Quyzbuk
For those unaware, there's still plenty of leftover adventure mode assets that are can be placed in worlds via the c_spawn command; a lot of which I believe would have a welcome home in the DST sandbox frankly. Maxwell's mosquito mines and tooth traps are still spawn-able via console (and yes they still trigger no matter who or what steps on them). Since they haven't vanished from the code like a certain (AWESOME) light, how about making them something exclusive for PvP? The regular versions of the tooth trap and bee mine can remain as they are, but these would be craftable only on PvP-enabled servers. They are exceptionally balanced for the PvP environment as they are, Maxwell tooth traps only have one use, but do more damage than the standard, and the mosquito mines give us a reason to do something beside kill them for healing sacs/balloons that can be made from them. It'll help give the PvP flag more of an identity if they can only exist/be crafted while the server has it on. Remember sickly wormholes? That could and SHOULD totally make it's way into DST. We've got disease for plants already, so wormholes would feel like a natural extension. This could be retooled to only allow one use every "x" days instead of dying upon a single use as it did in SP (or the use limit could just be increased to a random number before they die out if used while sick, there's a lot of different possibilities here). There's other things that can be pulled from adventure mode without worrying about bringing the adventure with it as well: Pig brutes protecting pig villages and/or the pig king? Kill two birds with one stone there, adds difficulty and should prevent people from going and destroying pig houses early in a world's life. Make it a simple "Yes/No" option at the world generation screen. Obelisk insanity walls blocking off people from going somewhere over/under a certain level of sanity? Yes please, let's get that as a possible rare set piece. Same thing for basalt, I've seen the set piece appear in maybe ONE world that I've visited over the time I've played this game. I know it's there, just like I know basalt can still be spawned as well. The basalt itself could become something that could also block off valuable resources/access to areas, but could be changed to require a very large number of pickaxe hits instead of being completely indestructible. It could almost be something like a public event to open up more of the map (provided people don't go and get themselves a Lazy Explorer first). Something worth thinking about sometime down the road don't you think? Maybe we might even see Maxwell lights again Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/70935-about-those-c_spawn-only-items/ Share on other sites
Arlesienne
Maxwell's light vanished, but Maxwell Stuff works like a charm, even on ANR. By point is this: the more, the merrier, so if we can create a list of command-only items, we could have fun on servers making use of them. I've never experienced a mosquito mine, for one. I do use the basalt rocks, because they look utterly cool. Quyzbuk
The wiki is pretty up to date on each prefab if you like playing around with these things like I do, you can even learn how to add / program your own wormholes and their destinations from it. On a different note, I'd be game for more command-only-inserted items if they got any lying around on their end, but never put them into the game files for reasons. Getting more people (with admin power and the know-how) to turn their sandbox worlds into a scenario-type environments would further enhance the replayability.
