Don't Starve Together ALL worlds deleted randomly

Don't know where to post this.

After dying on one of my worlds, I left the game and reached the main screen. Once there, I turned off my computer using the power button because my screen was acting up. I booted my game back up and all my worlds were gone (60+ hours wasted). I have 0 mods, memory space is available.

 

Suggestions before I quit this game forever?

What folders do you have in your Klei folder in Documents? You may have accidentally deleted/removed/renamed the clusters. A log would be appropriate too. Also remember Survival servers have a countdown. If you do not revive at least one player, you will lose that world.

To your last point, I left the server way before the countdown finished, and even if I didn't, why would it delete my other 4 worlds?

Just go to Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether, list what you have inside, and attach the file client_log.txt in your reply. Thanks in advance.

The countdown should not have interfered with other worlds, but you said your computer was going bananas. It may have done various things. At any rate you ought to do an antivirus scan quickly.

Hello @TheVenomWithin, this specific issue your having is new to me so I may not have all the answers. If all the servers are gone from the Host Game screen, can you confirm whether or not the cluster_# folders are empty? You did say they still exist in Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether, right?

All of them except one have master and cluster when I open them. cluster #5 has master only, without cluster inside of it.

@TheVenomWithin then in that case, it really does seem that the graphical issues that occurred when you left the server + the force shutdown you did caused the files to be removed for some reason. I sincerely think you should look into getting that graphical issue fixed first. I'm not knowledgeable enough to confirm if the Save files are still accessed by the game even while in the Main Menu, but if it is then force shutting down your whole PC may have corrupted the files and removed them somehow for some odd reason I can not determine.

With regards to your screen acting up, did it only ever occur on DST or does it happen constantly for other games/programs too?

It's my monitor, occasionally glitches out. When I died ,I was going to a touchstone to be revived but then it started freaking out. I didn't want to risk it going black and me not being able to see anything and losing my world, so I left and shut down. Unfortunately that cost me my worlds. Won't ever be doing that again.

@TheVenomWithin if it happens occasionally, I'd recommend for you to check your cables between your monitor and PC (dvi, vga, hdmi etc,). Make sure they're plugged all the way in and whether or not they are faulty (loose, damaged, rusty contacts, etc.) . If however you suspect its an issue with your PC itself then double check for driver updates of your graphics card from whichever official site they're from. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

If you're worried that it might, feel free to manually back up the cluster_# folders of your servers after every successful game session. 

Starting over in DST is also fun in its own way. Good luck, cheers.

I was going to say exactly what Zillvr advised. It appears something with your computer deleted the files and emptied the trashcan. You could try recovery services if you really feel like it, but it seems easier - and more exciting - to start new worlds. Those sixty hours - on one server or your total play time as measured by Steam?

I would advise checking cables, drivers and running a full antivirus scan. And backing up the servers. As the worlds are not linked to your account, but the machine you installed the game on, the only easily-available way to play on different computers is moving the clusters manually.
