PiturcaClaudiuStef
Hi i saw people's streams when they were overheating for winter with 2 heatstones and an fire pit that has an big fire on it.Well i tried that also and i only get my temperature to 20 grades it's something wrong with the game or that should happen? Also what's the chance for a penguin to drop an morsel or another meat item I'm playing with Wigfrid and i need a lot of meat?,how i get a lot of meat for her i've been working with traps and killing hounds from hound mounds and making meatballs but i always end up with her hungry and i have to make her eat cooked monster meat can you help me with this? EDIT:i only need one question answered please help me Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66678-questions/ Share on other sites
queenb33
Hi there, I have just started playing Wigfrid, are you able to post a picture of the map around your base? I can then design my recommendations to your current situation/base. I am on day 19 of my first Wigfrid world, I will explain my priorities. In terms of initial base have been: Base near to beefalo Base near to Rabbits (surround with traps) Build Alchemy machine, lightening rod, crock pot and drying racks x 8 Farm: 20 x twigs & grass Farm: 12 x berries find and destroy pig huts and relocate near base find and destroy 3 tier spider nest and relocate near(ish) base... surround with traps Create bird cage and bird trap - feed bird cooked meat and creat at least 13 eggs to spoil asap Kill beefalo and get a beefalo hat create fridge create thermal stone Pengulls do drop meat but beware, kill one and they will all wake up - they do some serious damage so I would not just rush in there! Far better to identify some rabbit traps or moles around and go for them, or even create some bird traps, catch kill, cook and eat. Posting an img of your base and surrounding area will help people to advise you on how to survive in your world Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66678-questions/#findComment-757278 Share on other sites

Posting an img of your base and surrounding area will help people to advise you on how to survive in your world thanks a lot well i have to start again another world with Wigfrid since i died in day 31 i need more experience in fighting with giants.I can kill deer clops and Goose/Goose and maybe bearger but because i forget to set endothermic fires for the Dragonfly i die to the Dragonfly so i need to remember this as an do thing.Yeah i always remain without resources in winter and i had problems with and i survived a lot with monster meat i guess i need more learning i'll start a new world today and i'll screenshot the base picture soon. And i always maked a base near the pig king or rocky bayum so thanks for the beefalo suggestion cause i didn't try that.Maybe it will help me that way, should i replace football helmet with battle helmet?.So that was the way of overheating cause i was just burning trees and using campfires with 2 headstones in my inventory and wearing rabbit earmuffs it helped me survive like 10 days in winter until 2 giants(deer clops and dragonfly) came i letted them fight and Dfly won and i forgot i had to take her to make endothermic fire pits and i died. queenb33
Hi, since you are starting a new world - This is how I would do it: Day 1 - explore gather as much twigs & grass as you can, and a minimum of 3 flint - find some rabbit holes and set a couple of traps - bait them if you need to, create your axe and chop enough to make a couple of fires for cooking meat. as soon as you come across a gold rock, mine it, cut down a couple more trees and make a science machine. - create a back pack and a shovel - I always make a hammer and destroy the science machine if I have not identified my base yet. Create a couple of torches and run around at night exploring - identify and explore - savannah biomes for beefalo, rocky biomes for gold/rocks etc. you may need to explore for a second day - go back to your traps, cook up your catch and replenish your reserves You may need to do this for two days but by that time you should find your beefalo. Day 2 I like to gather enough resources to make a fire pit, science machine, alchemy engine, lightening rod and crock pot... obviously most of this is done on a rocky biome - and chopping a few trees down/burning trees. A crock pot is a must for wigfrid. Hopefully you will have identified a base area near beefalo, go back (if its close enough) and collect your rabbit catch/ kill it cook it and eat it. If not, you can bait moles and kill them on the run. Spend the night of day 2 at your identified base, build fire pit, science machine, alchemy engine, lightening rod and crock pot and I always like to build a chest straight away. The rest of the first week - Prioritise exploring & building your camp as you go dig up twigs/grass/berry bushes for planting close to camp. As wigfrid you can't eat the berries, but you can eat meat balls. I got about 12-15 berry bushes for winter, and aim for about 40 twigs and 40 grass. Collecting manure for fertilising grass and berry bushes Finding the marshes and collecting enough reeds to make a bird cage, I then use monster meat - cook it up and get at least 14 eggs - put these in the chest and let them spoil, use at least two rabbit traps (bait them if you need to) use the berries, mushrooms or carrots you collect and put 1 morsel and three veg to make meatballs to keep you going finding glommer's statue After the first week I focus on Make a boomerang and start killing blackbirds - you will need four darts to put a giant to sleep and I like to be prepared! Killing a beefalo - for a horn and shaving sleeping beefalo so I can make a beefalo hat Finding pig huts destroying and relocating close to my base Destroying a tier three spider nest and relocating close to the pigs, surrounding with traps and collecting the loot Creating a net and catching enough bees and butterflies to make at least 1 bee box Creating a top hat creating a fridge, second crock pot, and 7-8 drying racks. Building up resources and exploring the world as I go. I am on day 33 in my world. I did actually set autumn to longer as I wanted to have a dummy run with Wigfrid so winter has just set in, However with all of my characters I manage the above tasks before the end of autumn (I always start with autumn). Ive just posted these images in another thread... you can see I have the beefalo to the north, my relocated pigs in the west with two spiders, Ive explored a fair amount of the map, and I have a decent size farm. I have about 11 gears so that will be enough to set up my ice flingomatics and a second fridge with some to spare. Crock pots are definately the key with this character. Also, yes I would use her battle helmet and her spear. They are excellent. If you get really stuck, you can use 1 meat and 3 ice for fillers for meat balls in the winter, but make sure you don't leave yourself short on ice for the summer. Day 2 I found a place full of ponds i killed a lot of frogs and i got like 12 frog legs i kept exploring i found an swamp i gathered 8 reeds, Goose/Goose spawned at the frog pounds in day 3 which helped me a lot cause she was killing frogs all the time,i made an mistake and i dragged Goose/Goose in the swamp which wasn't helpful because i should had kept her at the frogs,i letted her in the swamp to do the mosling thing I went to an wormhole which brought me to an diseduos forest i found glommer statue after a bit of exploring i found the pig king i used an hammer and destroyed an sunken boat so i can have the gold and make my base somewhere and i found chester in about day 3 i destroyed some of the pig houses on the way to the pig king which gave me a lot of cut stone and boards i ended up having 7 boards and 8 cut stones. I will stop putting days and just say what i did I found an set piece with the beefalo hat and the spear in the savannah In about 5 days i found the beefalo and i gave meat to the pig king for the gold which is bad i know but it helped me make an alchemy engine My world is letted in lot of giants and that's why Goose/Goose came in day 2 I made a crock pot and i gathered 10 twig tufts and 10 grass tufts yeah i know i need more i'll have to make some shovels to get more than that I made an crockpot and 2 chests with the boards I made the alchemy engine and the fridge i founded an set piece with the clockworks which got me about 6 gears i found 2 bishops too which i'll kill them later the flingos,I used two pigs to kill the set piece of ice hounds, and to maybe take the ice staff later.Killed two beefalo which got me two horns and some beefalo furs I'm in 13 days now and i explored much and yes i lost the old bell chance because i went to the Goose/Goose with 3 pigs which wasn't enough and it killed me and but i killed her after reviving from the touch stone.I made a minibase i think i need about two more crock pots and to start making a prestatihator and shadow manipulator to make the dark swords for the giants if they come more i need to be prepared .I think i'll use an shovel to catch more bunnies so i can get the prestatihator more fast I'll need to go crazy which will be easy because i have to get a lot of nightmare fuel about 6 for the shadow and i'll have the purple gems from the bishops after i kill them. I got a lot of pig skins and twigs but i still need to keep farming cause winter will come soon. I'll show you the pictures now: http://imgur.com/a/00DyS yeah i did make an boomerang another mistake i did is i last the traps too much time unverified because i kept exploring but i was doing in term of meat from the catkins and the pigs and the giant i made some pigs in were pigs so i can get more meat i used all my monster meat but i got more monster meat i'm unlucky and i didn't find any gold rocks i made only gold from the pig king i need to explore more so i can find an rocky bayum so far i only found 4 beefalo which i killed 2 and 2 remained i'll leave them alone now i need to do exploring but idk on which road i should go for that.I do tend to make mistakes i have to learn to make less atleast thanks for helping me.I'm not prepared for summer but until summer i'll have plenty of time. PiturcaClaudiuStef
in almost any day of Ds i think about what to do and how to prepare for the time i decide to everything anyday now and i see that using an battle spear is better than using an dark sword to fight the giants but i like the dark swords so that's why i always try to make the items need for them So for what i'm getting from all your advices: *Make drying ropes and ice flingomatics *make crock pots about 4 i make anytime in a new base *make birdcage let egg spoil normally i would let something else spoil like flowers so i can use the eggs for bacon&eggs or pierogi. *find an desert bayum and gather the gold *kill the spiders get a lot of silk did i miss something? queenb33
World gen is all random but if it were me, I would be wanting to explore further south/south west... for rocks nitre and Ice if you are in spring. I always prioritise a flingomatic and an endothermic fire, plus a shelter for sanity. In addition, I would be making that bird cage asap - it will see you through summer easily as you can feed cooked meat to the bird for eggs - 1 morsel + 3 eggs = meatballs! So a number of traps and a bird in a bird cage will see you good food wise. I have to say that I did get very lucky in my world, the set piece I found was a walking cane in the first few days which made exploring easier. Now I like my tussle with the giants and I like the spoils of war from a giant kill (I now have the eyebrella and am very pleased with that) but I don't see those as crucial and so I leave my giant settings to default. I would also look to produce a net so you can catch at least fireflies and make a miners helmet for night and also consider catching some killer bees (you will need those for the sleep darts), 4 sleep darts will send that dragonfly to sleep if he isn't in his bad mood! then if you are fast (because he wakes quickly) you can blow him up Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66678-questions/#findComment-758008 Share on other sites

PiturcaClaudiuStef
i watched a bideo and i learned a bit more on how to play wigfrig i made a crockpot in day 2 and i learned i have to make a base fast rather than making a base near the beefalo cause wigfrid needs a crockpot fast i'm in day 7 so far i made a boomerang a log suit i have 2 battle helms i made 6 traps which helps me a lot traps are really effective. How i manage summer with her btw? P.S i made two drying racks too is it usefull to make monster jerky as well? queenb33
If I were you, I would do a world gen with everything set to default and autumn start while you get used to Wigfrid. Autumn is always an easier option to start the game. I like to catch my food on the run until I find the beefalo however, I can see the sense in setting up a base with a crock pot, fire pit and science machine in the first few days if you can't find beefalo by then. Looking at your images from your last game, I would say you need to be a bit faster with your exploring, find an edge, make some torches and walk around the edge of the map - do this at night and day so you can explore as much as possible - that makes it easier to identify where you will find the pig king/glommer/beefalo/rocks etc... Summer is not so bad, there is plenty of food you can eat: If you are near ponds - you can fish or catch frogs, you can feed monster meat or morsels to birds for eggs and create meat balls or bacon and eggs. If you have your farm set up with a flingomatic your berries will keep growing - again use these for meat balls. I would make a top hat since you dont have a tam o'shanter yet. Collect ice - as much as you can before it melts and store it in a fridge Make 2 thermal stones that you can swap between when one gets too hot. Since you have not encountered the deerclops, I always go with a straw hat and umbrella but other people may recommend other things. Collect lots of wood for fuel for your flingomatics and set up your endothermic fire pit.... Dont venture too far from your base, summer is a pain but you can get through it - just remember to prepare enough for the dragonfly. In terms of what you are doing wrong, its not meant to be easy - if you play this game you need to be prepared to die - lots. Live, die, learn. One of the key things that helped me is be cautious and be prepared. So many things can kill you, for example - frog rain... catch them in traps - don't bother taking them on yourself. If it helps, sit down and make a list of what you want to do/what you need built before the next season, Some of your priorities will vary depending on whether the next season is summer or winter but many of them will be the same. For both seasons I would want lots of fuel, a base camp and to have my farms set up - If I am late with setting up my farms in autumn I would do these in winter My summer winter priorities would be: Summer 1x endothermic fire pit 2 x flingomatics - 1 for camp, 1 for farm 1 siesta lean-to 1 top hat (if I dont have tam o'shanter 2 thermal stones 1 fridge 1 icecube hat Winter Beefalo hat 2 thermal stones fridge tent top hat In summer - food really should not be a problem - overheating will, there are some very experienced players out there who have made some great videos about summer, I don't see a need to plan for summer that much differently with wigfrid than with other characters. I suggest you keep watching some videos, many players do playthroughs and record their play from start to finish so you can see what they do and how they prepare every step of the way. That always helps me and gives me new ideas and strategies Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66678-questions/#findComment-759037 Share on other sites

queenb33
I decided to start a second Wigfrid world in DS ROG, so I could explain how I spent the first few days and why. I have included a map to show the benefits of this method as I see them. Settings are all default apart from starting season is set to Autumn, Shipwrecked synch is turned off because of some of the mods I use. Mods: Mini map. Picky picky, ice flingomatic range checker stack to 999 (helps me carry more of one item) Display health Crock pot recipe predict mod I got unlucky with this game and didn't find the beefalo until day 6 so set up my camp on day 7 (very late for me but worth it) Day 1 I was spawned near a savannah with rabbits, I collected twigs/grass/ berries and carrots and created a trap, baited it and caught 7 rabbits, picked up a couple of flint, made some torches and started to explore... I found an edge of the map and stuck to it, collecting on the way but not needing to go too far from the map... on my way I would stop briefly to cook up meat but I never stopped for the night. I kept moving using torches exploring and collecting resources, if I saw a mole worm I put one flint down and killed him when he came to eat it, picked up the flint and the morsel. Occasionally I would stop to gather 3-4 berries and catch rabbits - its much faster when you bait the trap. Resources I focused on are: Twigs Grass Gold Flint Wood Rocks As I said, day six I found the beefalo and explored that area, found a couple of spider dens and destroyed them for silk. By day 7 I had identified where I want my base camp and created a crock pot, chest, lightning rod, alchemy engine and fire pit. I had found and identified a lot of the map and key areas that I need. Now I can start gathering for my farm, creating drying racks and a fridge etc and preparing for winter. The key is to catch lots of food - if you find a good area for food - take the time to stock up in one go, then make the torches and just keep going! I like using the mod 'picky picky' as it shortens the amount of time picking grass, twigs and berries... you may find it useful. I have included an image at day six with arrows to key areas to show you exactly what I managed to discover by using this method to explore. The rest of my images are day 24 - winter has just begun and you can see my farm, base and location in more detail... You will see on the day 24 map that Ive done a close up view and circled all my key areas... camp, rabbits, beefalo, relocate pig village (in green). The blue circle is where i will relocate my spider nest to During winter I like to camp out by the walrus camp, harvesting hounds teeth and trying to obtain a tam o'shanter and a walking cane. Unfortunately I have not yet located a wallrus camp, but I did locate the walking cane set piece on day 20 and I have a top hat. I have eggs rotting, nitre and charcoal for creating 9 gunpowder and have created 4 sleep darts. During this winter, I will prioritise building my farm area and creating ice flingomatics for my farm and base, collecting more fuel, collecting more twigs and grass and creating a lightening rod for my farm. After that I will explore the rest of the map as much as I can - filling in the dark areas hopefully this can help a bit.
