DwerBomb
They seem weaker (I swear I only lost 10 hp from a bite with Walani), and sometimes drop nothing. What's up with that? SapphireBullets
I don't know about you but I was usually up to my eyebrows in monster meat and snakeskin, so that's probably why they chose to reduce the drops. Also Snakes don't stun as easily as spiders so they probably made them a bit easier to fight. (Especially since they still swarm like spiders.) PhelsarusBeel
Dunno about you but Shakes are just as delicious as usual Jokes aside i feel like a nerf to their droprates was justified considering how plentyfull they are and how easy it was to farm up Snakeskin and Monstermeat what made you able to cook Meatballs for days. ZeroGrim
so...they've made spiders even better then snakes again....and they've made venom sacs harder to get....wooo... Actually that's a good point. Lower damage or not we need an easier way to get venom sacs. Maybe they should be refinable from spider glands or yellow mosquito blood sacs. cece
Ok, I thought this was just me, but it seems to be part of the latest update since it was working fine yesterday before I updated my game. 1 hour ago, ZeroGrim said: so...they've made spiders even better then snakes again....and they've made venom sacs harder to get....wooo... You can get venom sacs from the poison pits if you dig them up. Seriously these little buggers got the highest Venomgland droprate and with the changes to the Speargun hunting them isn't that hard. Not to mention that you get immune to their poison with i think a Shellsuit and a Gasmask so even less risk there. I got poisoned early on in the game and was just frantically sailing around killing stinkrays... I got two stacks of 20 before giving up, cheating with the wiki, and sailing back to a swamp (I lived!). Am I just miraculously unlucky? Dunno considering how rarely i get poisoned I almost always got at least 1 Gland at that point so i can almost always make the Anitvenom asap. Might make an experiment on my current file since i got all the tools to protect myself against their poison just gotta find them first (seriously haven't seen 1 yet and i'm about halfway done with Hurricane season). Cyaneye42
Another neat thing about stinkrays is that in addition to having a very high drop rate for venom glands is that their entire attack is merely poisoning you. In other words if you're already poisoned you don't need to bother with a gas mask or seashell suit and you can simply kill them en masse until you get the poison gland. Add some coral and seaweed and you're cured. In regards to snakes things were getting a bit ridiculous with the drops, especially since I was playing webber. Not only was I fed but had enough snakeskin carpeting that come monsoon season puddles didn't even spawn remotely close to my structures. Not to mention snake oil is waaaaaaay too overpowered to get early on, so it makes sense to lower the drop rate of that end game item. In that same webber profile I had two of them - I was practically unstoppable Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/64800-what-happened-to-snakes/#findComment-727225 Share on other sites
DeputyDeath
I thought snakes always did 10 damage? It made sense for them to deal half the damage of a spider because they can't be stunlocked and you can't control how big a group of them you'll be fighting at any given time. The changes to their drops was probably because of the way that snakes interact with other animals, which practically flooded jungles full of monster meat/rot and snakeskin if there were a few prime ape huts. Plus, I'm sure that snakes are just meant to be an inconvenience, like hounds, rather than something that you'll actively hunt. It would explain why they spawn so freaking much, and their uncontrollable spawning grounds. I think they're meant to be yet another enemy that'll go after Packim Baggims in mobs until you go over there in mighty mode and beat 'em to death with a ham shank. So, whereas spiders are ideal for a monster farm (with varied and frequent drops but requiring constant attention to avoid a spider queen), snakes are not. And besides, we don't need a spider clone in Shipwrecked, right?
