Why is there no password set on my dedicated server?

Recommended Posts

You can see the code in the text below.

My server has no password even though I set server_password = Oyster#1

[NETWORK]
server_intention = cooperative
default_server_name = OysterMaker's World
server_password = Oyster#1
default_server_description = Ryan sucks dick
max_players = 6

Have you tried being a little nicer to Ryan removing the '#' from the password and seeing if that enables the password? I don't personally work with DS servers but, personally, my previous programming experiences have demonstrated that anything besides alphanumerical characters isn't often accounted for. So that '#' may just be something not accounted for.

If removing the '#' doesn't work... well, that's my best advice. Hopefully somebody a bit more knowledgeable will step in soon :x

Hello @OysterMaker did you perhaps have the server up and running while you added or changed the password inside this settings.ini (found under the master server's folder in Documents\Klei) ? If so, I'd suggest you close the server, re-save your settings.ini and start up the server again.

Also upon start up, check the master server's log whether you'll find  Passworded: true.

I've tried adding a # to my server's password, and it pushed through upon trying to log into the server. I had to type the new password with the #, so I don't think that's the cause.

Spoiler

Thanks for stepping in @MikeyMusic, cheers!

Try the methods above first and report back with your master server's log.txt if it doesn't work. Cheers.
