Tropical fish not turning into spoiled fish, but rather rot?

Wiki says fish is supposed to turn into spoiled fish and that you can get shards from them, yet the fishes I caught in the pools turn into rot. Why?

if you wana have some shards , place some traps on crab hole , let them spoil into , hammer the spoiled stuff and enjoy your infite bone shard supply

Thanks for the suggestion, but aren't fish supposed to work as well?

i think fish just share the same line code for spoiling than the other foods , i think it's a sort of "class" .

I just grabbed a crab and let it starve to death in my inventory but it turned into fish morsel?

I think that's it's only for fish steaks.

That's normal. When starved to death, it's considered as killed, so it drops his usual loot. For crabs, fish morsel.

no dude , don't grab it , let it spoil into the trap ^^ , sorry i didn't said this point

When it spoil into the trap , the trap fall down aside , and you will have an boned fish , hammer it , and get your 2 shards ^^

Actually Fish morsels which come from crabs will ONLY turn into spoiled fish, kill a lot of crabs and let their fish morsels rot in a trunk or outside in the rain, all of them will turn to spoiled fish, I find it the most awsome thing in the game and also you don't need a trap for them to turn in to spoiled fish, its the morsel not the crab.

Actually the fish are SUPPOSED to rot into spoiled fish, maybe Klei didn't put it down properly cause you know crabs are crustaceans and have nothing in common with fish meat if I'm correct (Ate shrimps once, very crunchy)

i think crustaceans is the same as fish at all , for exemple , the crock pot recipe. well , that's not annoying at all , i like to get my bone shards with this crab ^^
