[Suggestion] Weather

Recommended Posts

I think it would be interesting to add an extra level of difficulty and unpredictability to the game by adding certain weather hazards depending on the season. For instance, tornadoes in fall, blizzards in winter, torrential downpours in spring, and intense heats lighting many things on fire. It would be nice to see weather that has a much larger effect than a little bit of rain or snow that requires quick thinking to survive, as well as making weather a bit more important to the game.

We already have all this except for natural disasters which I think bosses make up for. I'd pick natural disasters over bosses any day, but we can't have both or it'll be way too hard to survive in my honest opinion. Natural disasters can't be stopped but bosses can.

Implementing new weather mechanics is not easy and is going to be done in shipwhrecked. I thinkg we need patience. Looong patience.

What is DST and DS is completely missing is the from the beginning aimed travel. You must alwasy scout, explore around - always. No wonder, that someone like you get the idea with new challanges. But I think, when we get in the early game information, where the pig king is or the spider forest is, the game wouldn't be so boring, because you see then your destination, but not your way ;-)

This aimed traveling can be achieved by the jack sparrow compass and the pirate spyglass!

By the looks of Shipwrecked and some videos, that games is more designed for exploring than anything else. I'm pretty sure that's intended, but in the previous games of don't starve, it feels more restrictive. You get more benefit for building an established base. The DST DLC that we're getting seems to wanna emphasize that some more. I mean now we're taming Beefalo to make traveling shorter, rather than longer. Traveling is a lot of fun, but the daytime in this game is very short and that's why people try to bring everything back into their base. Exploring is fun, but there is only so much to see before you get bored. Challenges are what I think we need, not more exploring.

I meant exactly, what you say. If you know where do go, you won't need to explore so much anymore.

I don't play shipwhrecked, but I know it has many game mechanics quite same or similar with these of DST. Anyway Shipwhrecked will sooner or later be merged with DS. The real difference is the sea, because you must pass it while traveling and traveling is still not a little part of that game. The weather and some items are different but are not very outstanding compared what DS is providing. Together these two games would enricht eachother. Besides you still have there new buildings and a base and its still a beta...
