Darkcreations Posted January 6, 2013 Share Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) Just a bunch of suggestions me and my friend have thought about. 1) First of all i would like to comment on the size of the worlds you spawn in. So far they are quite small i've spawed in quite couple where there is just one island and thats it. I think that they need to be much bigger im on day 92 already and i've explored the whole world and because of this there is nothing else to do but stay at base. So i just think that they need to be larger so your not just walking around your base for the whole time. 2) When it is night time nothing really happens you just stand there for a minute or two and thats it. So the suggestion here is to make night time a little more interesting, by adding more things that come out at night (not just spiders) and also making things like gushes of wind that puts out your fire? 3) Lanterns that can be filled with fireflies, so you can place around camp or use them to make paths around islands, so you can travel safely at night 4) As much as i like those meat effigies i feel like something needs to be changed. Maybe after a while the meat inside on them starts to rot or go foul and you can tell because flies will be surrounding it. When this is happening and you resurrect in one you resurrect with 25 health and 10 hunger. But you can stop this by happening by filling the effigies back up with 4 pieces of meat. Now lets just say theirs about a 50% chance that this could occur to your effigy between 5-10 days. If you dont fix if by then its stays rotten and theirs nothing you can do about it. 5) What about those poor pig men, most people just kill them and abuse them and in then end the pigmen dont really care. Now lets just say that they do and this influences your alliance with the pigmen. If you have a quite low alliance they kill you on sight but if you have a quite high one, by feeding them meat and everything, they welcome you into their camp and offer you protection. 6) Way points for your map. To be able to mark your map with a way point you need to craft a charcoal pencil which basically consists of 4 charcoal and 2 logs. Once made you can mark two things on your map with you charcoal pencil before it breaks. I know the game is only in beta and that there is a lot more to come but i just feel like i need more to do, need more to explore. You can get a (buggy) sneak peek at it if you make a world using the test generator.2) Right now, nighttime is a good opportunity to catch up on any chores you might have, such as crafting, cooking food, or rearranging inventory. I have a feeling Klei has some plans to make nighttime more interesting and engaging, though.3) Sounds like it'd be a reliable permanent light source, so I don't know if we'll ever see something like that. Klei isn't really a fan of "set it and forget it" things that provide good utility. The carved pumpkin (which could probably use a slight buff, to be honest) is probably the closest we'll get to the sort of thing you're describing, though if we ever do get a lantern like that, I imagine that it'd require some maintenance to keep it working to balance out the benefits. Right now, you can make ad-hoc nighttime pathways by placing fireflies in a line, though you can't stop moving while running along the path, since the fireflies will temporarily disappear shortly after moving near them.4) Similar things have been suggested. It's pretty much agreed upon that meat effigies need nerfed, though no one has quite settled on exactly how they should be nerfed.5) I don't know. I think Don't Starve's lonely atmosphere would start to erode if the pigmen could welcome the player in as one of their own. I think it'd be better if they stuck to their current role of unreliable temporary companion/potential food source. (Also, Klei seems keen on limiting pigmen in some way so they aren't such an efficient source of meat in the future, which would potentially curb the mass-murder of pigmen)6) This sort of thing has also been suggested a lot, and it is likely that we'll get some sort of map markers (a craftable sign or something similar) in the future. As for now, there's some things that can be crafted and placed in the world that will show up on the map, and they make good enough markers for the time being. Its nice to hear because i think that there needs to be bigger worlds so your not just stuck in the same place. Also I understand about how nighttime is used to catch up on things, but when there isn't anything to catch up on its a bit boring standing there. As for the waypoints, my friend thought that it would be a good idea to label things instead of just having symbols like 'camp' or 'food source', ect. As for the wind sirmentlegen i was suggesting that its a thing that keeps you watching your fire not just lingering off doing nothing, its not just a thing that kills you i meant as it to be a thing you should be prepared for thats all.
