Help making a custom starting weapon

I'm trying to make a Custom weapon for a character mod I'm making, I want to make them Golden claws that can't break and deal 45 damage and is able to heal 1 health per hit, but the only thing I would know how to do is the artwork, but even then, I wouldn't know how to give them a functional animation as swiping rather than clubbing, so ya...any help?

uh.. use another model item already in the game that has the animation you want and add it to your weapon?

The problem is, no items act with any kind of punching/swiping animation

I'm also working on a custom starting weapon with unique animations. Gonna review a bunch of tutorials and do some trial and error testing. If I learn anything Ill come back and post in this thread. I'd ask you to do the same @implendoratio

As far as I am aware there is no way to unobtrusively add unique animations to existing animation sets.
