DreamApart
Non-venomous snakes should be something like green, not red. Usually, poisonous and venomous creatures in the jungle have warning coloration so they can scare off stronger animals that they cannot defeat, while others have protective coloration so their predators or preys won't easily see them. While venomous snakes are OK to be yellow, non-venomous jungle snakes should be green and hard to see in jungle turf, especially at night. That would make snakes harder to fight, so that snake meat are expensive enough to be something other than monster meat, considering the balance in early game. Kanilammit
I was actually thinking they should make the difference between the venomous and non-venomous snakes more discreet and replicate the coral vs king snake coloration where all three colors (black, red and yellow) are used on each one, but just in different patterns. I think that could make fighting snakes without proper protection more risky. However, I have to imagine that would create some serious hate like "OMG! The snakes are impossible to tell apart! I thought I was fighting a regular snake but it poisoned me. This game sux!" Maybe your idea of making the non-venomous snakes green and blend into the background is better. Either way, I would like to see the venomous variety resemble the coral snake in its coloration with the three color bands instead of just the two. However, I am completely fine with it not actually dropping coral when killed. CameoAppearance
Actually it is really hard to tell the difference between red regular snakes and yellow poison snakes on a full moon night, because they end up looking like similar shades of blue. I had to hover over them to check which kind were coming after me. Making snakes blend in with the background kind of seems like poor game design, even though I like the idea realism-wise. It seems like it would mostly just frustrate players if they were hard to tell apart from the background jungle terrain but weren't designed around disguising themselves, especially since snakes are already very common in jungle biomes and have a lot of scenery to hide behind because of the large jungle trees.
