Make boards craftable for Walani without needing to protype them first?

So, as all of you know, Walani is all about getting your map explored as early as possible wih her surfboard. However, seeing as the surfboard requires boards to be crafted, and it only has 50% of the raft's durability, i found myself wanting to create a new surfboard. Not only that, but when you set up a base, the surfboard quickly becomes redundant, because you can make cargo/armored boats, which are better in every single way.

But that's just my 2 cents.

Wickerbottom can get a row boat with a thatch sail right on the first island, sure it costs materials... but it just makes Walani, who is supposed to be all about seafaring, to feel really lackluster.

Exactly!

She's supposed to be the best at seafaring for the first couple couple of days, but she is limited by her surfboard.

You can pick up the surf board again which is nice to cross islands. Altough the sanity you gain from wave riding is small, the increased speed gain is kinda nice too. If she would be able to rid the big waves, that would be cool. Or if a sail could be used, making it an extremly fast seacompanion which you 100% can't use in fights. Idk, making her more special really.

Her pro/cons feel small too. See this thread though: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/61027-can-we-please-make-the-new-characters-have-distinctive-attributes/

On a side note: It's just weird that the recipe is unlocked at start but you need a prototyped item. Same for chiminea (altough you can find limestone. from touchstones...).
