So am I the only one who has an issue with the Flood Season?

COMON PEOPLE!

Lets say they "fix" these puddles and now what? What will be actual surviving challenge??? TELL ME PLEASE! Even now SW is pretty easy after few deaths (for people that have skill in DS/ROG) and after you survive first year it start to be BORING.

WE ... NEED ... FEATURES/STUFF/ITEMS ... FOR ... LATE ... GAME ... !!!

Please premade one crockpot and make brainhat (you have water resistance items from season before) - this is the ONLY thing you need to make for wet season - there goes our challenge :(

And stop this "make this one easier and make that one easier" ... those sandbags WORKS!!! and everyone knows how so use them and start surviving more than 1 season so you actually know how boring it gets after first year and start making threads about LATE GAME because eventually everyone will get to that point!

I agree that completly fixing this season is more complicated then a nerf. I think summer is too tame now and is lacking any challenge. I like the idea that some onesaid about flooring that prevents flood to spawn on it but doesnt stop water spreading on to it.

Also thanks for the base compliments.

I agree with @t0panka.
In addition, devs left for Christmas's holidays. So I guess next update with possible tweaks and new content will roll out in 25 January - 15 February period. So calm down everyone, we're stuck here for a long time

Sanity: Even if your base is completely dry you still have to venture out and stand in puddles. So you need 100% water resistance anyways. The only benefit from a dry base for this topic is that you don`t have to wear your rain protection items all the time. Since your base will most likely only be fully flooded after half of the monsoon season, 2 umbrellas and a football helmet will do perfectly fine.

Fridge: As I mentioned in my previous post the fridge is the only worthwhile structure to protect during monsoon season. However this is not necessary since food is so easily gathered that you do not need to preserve your food at all.

Crock Pot: Same as the fridge. You don't need to use food efficiently in SW unlike in RoG.

Prototyping: You can still prototype even if your science machines malfunction. The new item brain of thought lets you prototype 4 things per hat and you can build a new one every few days. Or you pre-craft some of them in Calm/Hurricane season so you don't need your science machines at all.

The only things I really need from my base in SW are chests and a light/fire source. Both work perfectly fine even in a fully flooded base.

Listen, after fairly extensive amounts of playing this game (several 150+ days files) I can tell you that it actually is an issue for me. Not one that can't be survived, but one that seriously takes some of the enjoyment out of the game for me.

I am totally okay with the presented issue of water flooding your base being a totally possible and dangerous thing, I like it actually. But I'd love it a lot more if it was possible, yet wholly preventable. Like so many other things in the base game. All I'm asking for, honestly, is a single item that, if you're able to acquire it, can give more of a goal and way of helping to overcome the season. That's all.

Yeah, I definitely don't want the season to just be nerfed, hopefully I didn't lead people to believe otherwise, all I'm really asking for is an item that can let us clean up the puddles that spawn in our base. I suggested an item early on in this thread for it, sea sponge as a new item you can get in trawl nets or some other way in coral reefs, and you can turn it into a mop among other things. You can check it out if you want, it's a whole separate thread about the item suggestion.

I don't really like the idea of flooring that just makes your base immune to puddles spawning. Sounds overpowered to me because it would guarantee that, with one investment, you'd never have to worry about flooding again if you just put sandbags around the flooring. The season would turn into a joke. I think the mop idea is more balanced, especially since it would have durability.

So how that works? You dry your camp with sponge ... lets say with all 100% of that sponge durability. For how long? If it is anything more than half a day or so and sponge isn't HARDER as thelucite gear to make it is too OP and you just delete puddles from game!

We already have 100% protection from water with some stuff and guess what your coat works against water even when you are standing in it? This is ok with real world but puddles spawning randomly are not?

THE ONLY thing that puddles do is make your crockpot and icemachine spark and you cant cook (IN THAT CROCKPOT) and icemachine doesnt cool your food. Tell me please is this a challenge??? And if you wana mention mosquitos there is seashell armor that is super easy to make and you ahve 100% protection :D That is ridiculous!

I really don't understand how you're protected from standing in the water by wearing an umbrella either but at this point I don't really question it, lol. I'm actually fine with Mosquitos too, they're not too hard to deal with honestly, I kinda feel like seashell armor is kinda overpowered in that way. But tell me why the heck I should have to build another crock pot every single year (if there is even a dry spot left on my entire island) when it'd make way more sense to just be able to get rid of the freaking water with an item. If it's really not challenging enough as is like you're trying to claim, what do we gain by having this annoyance? It's not even hard it's just frustrating and wasteful to have to go build additional crock pots of you want to use your food efficiently

- there is too much food in SW now so i dont even build crockpot/ice machine

- you can live even if you are lazy building one crockpot with that much of food

- building one crockpot is that big of a deal?

- also you can still dry your base with sandbags ... maybe you need hammer one chest to place sandbag

- if your base is so precious you can dry land outside your base and put new crockpot there

- are you aware that we are talking about the fact that monsoon season challenge is you can't use your crockpot?

- you have 20 days (maybe less) to go exploring outside of your camp to find cool stuff that SW want you to find so how about that

- living without your "electrical" stuff is (little) challenge

- as i said before make your idea worth doing + challenging more like it is now - eating uncooked food for 15 days is not a challenge and you would do this more often if exploring is more priority to you than sitting duck in your precious base .)

EDIT: so why you dont create new thread about "snake skin gear should not protect you while standing in water" OR "Seashell armor is too OP"? Because you create thread about features that are "hard" for you (for now) but they will become more easy after a while anyway. So how about "can we get more items/features/stuff/monsters for late game" thread? .)

EDIT2: Lets say Klei will implement your sponge feature so now calm season easy, hurricane season (after people complain about hail doing damage and Klei deleting that feature too) will be easy, wet season will be easy with sponge and dry season is already easy. So you get trough all of it easier than before and next game year what? What will you do next game year?

I'm starting to get the impression that you're really not understanding what I'm saying anymore so maybe we should drop it.

Wait wait i have little idea

How about obsidian flooring? Make it hard to create like 4 obsidian for 1 tile of floor and it can DRY water that will spawn there BUT it will make your character overheat when standing on it for some time??? O.o

Problem with sponge is that it makes flooding challenge go away but with this obsidian flooring you can prevent your base from flooding but also it is still little challenge!

that actually sounds like an awesome idea! Nice! ^^

Maybe the palm leaf hut can have the added ability to prevent puddles from forming for something like a 1 tile radius around it. You still need to barricade against outside water from possibly getting into your base, but at least the hut can act as some kind of roof to protect your valuables to prevent puddle from forming under them.

it's not possible to build that above your machines :(

First I apologize for positing an idea that was already mentioned on the previous page. It was in what are some of the few posts I just skimmed across without fully reading and missed the mention of the huts.

Second, I was thinking, the radius of effect would allow you to put the hut next to the machines, not necessarily above them.

My typical placement has the hut directly next to a crockpot so I don't get wet while cooking during the night. Giving the hut something like a 1 tile area of protection doesn't seem to OP. It may just mean that you have to cluster your machines in a way you didn't before, or build multiple huts.

It's definitely a good idea to consider, it's something a lot of people have brought up as a possibility, and I've thought about it a bit myself as well.

I'm just not entirely sure about it because it might be kinda awkward for bigger bases, just like the whole "placing sandbags on top of puddles to stop them" mechanic we have going on right now.

Maybe it's just because I'm pretty "OCD" about clutter and such.  :wilson_nerdy:

But in any case, did you see my suggestion for mops? I thought those might be a nice compromise to help out.  http://forums.kleien...-season-issues/
