Game menu freezes on startup

Hello, I just purchased the game and whenever I launch it, it works for a few seconds then it freezes on the main menu. I can't click play or quit and the background stops moving. Music still plays and if I hover over play and click there are sound effects but I'm unable to get into the game. I've tried everything from redownloading and veryfing files as well as setting compatibility. Please help.

 

GTX 970, i7 4790k, 16GB RAM

Can you post your log.txt file, which is located at Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether. That will help us track down the cause of the issue you're experiencing.

@Alanagana and @Strugert, it looks like the game engine is failing to setup the render targets for drawing the scene. It's curious that you both have GeForce 970s, so I'm suspicious of a driver bug. I'd recommend getting the latest graphics drivers from nVidia, located here http://www.geforce.com/drivers

 

If the game is still failing to load, can you please send us your dxdiag file via following these instructions.

 

 
In order to get a DXDiag on WindowsXP or more recent operating systems:
-Click on your Start button
-Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to access the "Run" window
-On the new window, type in dxdiag.exe and press enter; this will open up the DirectX diagnostic tool
-Click on the "Save All Information" tab on the diagnostic tool
-A "Save As..." window will pop up where you can click on save. It will save your hardware information as a document to your desktop (default).
-Close the diagnostic tool and attach the new document to your forum post or support ticket.

I figured out what was causing it to crash. Check if you have RivaTuner Statics Server (or something like RTSS) is installed. It might have come with MSI Afterburner. If so, I would uninstall it. The moment I did, everything worked fine, as the crashing was occuring with more than Don't Starve Together. Hope this helps. 

 

P.S. If you try to uninstall it, it might say that you need to close all instances of RivaTuner. However, when you close it, another one just pops up again, even if you end the process in the task manager. If it does this, go to task manager and right click on RivaTuner. Then go to the location of the program and and rename it something else. Then close RivaTuner and you can uninstall it. Good luck.
