Walking Animation Override

I have my character set up to load a different animation under certain conditions but the walking animation messes up the look of the character. In that mode the character is not suppose to move so I tried just setting the speed multiplier to 0.01 which effectively keeps the character from moving but if you try to move then the character starts to bob up and down and it looks funky. Is there a way to override the walking animation to always remain idle or is there a listener that listens for player movement?
