CameoAppearance
If the chiminea is only slightly harder to craft than the fire pit and has all the same benefits plus a bunch of new ones like wind resistance then there's hardly any reason to have both the fire pit and the chiminea in the game. Very niche situations where you benefit from being able to place a light source bigger than a portable lantern even though you can't risk burning down whatever's next to it don't really prove that the fire pit is still useful in general, because clever players can find uses for just about anything. (Most flagrant example I can think of: The game Ancient Domains of Mystery has a literal Potion of Uselessness that does absolutely nothing at all and can't be used to make anything else, and players still managed to put it to use.) Even in the early game before you've found gold for a Science Machine, the Fire Pit is still not that useful by comparison to the Chiminea because it can take a little while to get enough rocks and you may not have found anywhere you especially want to come back to. Even if you know where you want to put your base, there's not much point putting stuff there before building a science machine. Comparing it to the grass suit actually makes the point stronger, in my opinion. I'm not sure if I've ever crafted a grass suit even when I first picked up the game, and the only way I'm going to use one is if I find it on a dead NPC before I get the chance to build a science machine on the principle that a little bit of protection is better than nothing. After that it goes in the fire. (It's not even worth crafting as a combustible. If I have a ton of grass but not much wood and need a fire in a hurry I make a Straw Roll and burn that.)
