Monkey's Picking up portal components

First off there are way way way too many monkeys they are out of control. Secondly i came accross one of the adventure components and as i went to pick it up a monkey scooped it right up. This is a major problem how are we suppose to get the components if monkeys can pick them up, talking about a needle in a haystack.

Oh really they can do that? The original things can't be picked up by Splumonkeys or Krampus.

Anyways you can recruit a monkey army via bananas and let them fight against some other monkeys. They will kill themselves and you can pick up their scooped loot.

 

Or burn down the whole jungle including their huts and kill the survivors afterwards.

I've been playing as Wendy and getting dear Abigail to kill them all, detroying their huts first so they can't respon

I'm pretty sure picking up portal items would be a glitch though as I know they won't pick up Abigail's flower but they did end up picking up Wes's balloon pile :/
