Let's Talk about Willow

Willow's stats state that she freezes when she is insane. This feature is fine and all until Summer hits. You would think that you can survive summer just by being insane but this is not the case. She does not freeze at all when insane during summer and still overheats as if she didn't have the feature.

 

If Willow was able to not overheat in summer at the cost of sanity that would be a perfectly fine thing to have. The fact that this feature is does not work in summer makes her a weak character. All she really has is the ability to cook food whenever and run around with a torch. Bernie does nothing but make it a nuisance to fight shadow creatures. 

 

Please Klei make it so that she stays cool in summer.

I don't think it's necessary. It only give you small advantage like extra isolation but that's all, you will still get that overheating.

Freezing works the same and it's suppose to make game a bit more challenging. What would be next? Giving Wilson or Webber freezing immunity because they have beards?

By immune I thought: "You can't freeze". You still can freeze with beard but slower. Willow's insanity works the same way the beard works so it's only slowing down overheating.

With Willow you won't overheat during the first 5 days of summer if you are insane.

Mid to late summer, temperatures go nuts. So yeah, it won't save you then.

However you won't freeze anyway for the first 4 days. I've done a bunch of summer starts and staying under a tree only prevents overheating until about day 5-6.

 

While being insane willow will stretch these times out a bit, shadow creatures can be hard to deal with, with no flint or armour, and even more so for people who don't know about disabling movement prediction. And even if you can, the fact that you gain sanity from killing them makes maintaining your insanity very difficult.

 

Frankly willow's insanity perk is rarely of use and even then is only a slight boost. Its more prominent effect is actually killing players who don't know how to regain sanity on days 15-35.
