This is probably an old topic but I can't find the answers I was looking for.

Trying to make a new character using the extended sample template. I made another previous character and simply edited the existing .png files while keeping everything in line with the original and everything looked fine. This time I am trying to make something a bit taller but shorter than wilson. I thought you could just open the .scml in Spriter and adjust everything accordingly, save and be on your way but now I see it's not so simple. Nothing I change in Spriter carries over to the game. File structure is just that of the template characters with the .scml in the exported folder along with the .png subfolders. I also tried deleting both the anim .zip and exported .zip in hopes it would auto compile the new zips with the adjustments.

I may be wrong but does each .png have the animation info encoded into it along with the graphic? If so how can I align my objects correctly without making entirely new animations?

I kinda wish they'd make a note of this in the template file or something because so many people (including myself) didn't realize that you can't change the proportions of the character in-game by changing the spriter positions.

You have to edit the individual image files located in the exported folders.

Wouldnt that break animations? I am not too familiar with the cut-out animation that Don't Starve uses, but i am pretty sure that all the parts have origins that the other linking parts rotate around, so it will result in parts awkwardly disconnecting from eachother

Ya, when you make a character in Spriter you need the pivot points to allow for correct animation. And it seems these points are considered anchor points for the objects connected with them. What I am not 100% on, is when you make an animation it's exported as the .png? Or just the parts involved are the .png and the animation itself is someplace else like a bin?
