XirmiX
As the title says, I have two things in mind to talk about in this topic. I'll start with the questions:1) If the Shipwrecked content will be in a new world, does that mean that things like the seasonal effects from this DLC will also not be seen on the main land? As in things like the wind and ice rain?2) Will "lava caves" be a thing? I'm quite sure that lava will be in the game, though what could it be used for and how could it function? Perhaps magma/igneus rocks which could be used for somrthing? The following will be in terms of my prefference to how I would like to see Shipwrecked implemented:I know that it will be a DLC for sure either way, though I'm still a bit sort of like :L about how it is planned to be all in a whole new world. For lava caves, if they're implemented I would get that, but the whole thing? Idk, it feels weird and it will be weird with two different atyles of water and only one of which will be possible to go on. I feel like it would be bettwe if the mainland would be surrounded by the islands with the biomes of Shipwrecked and that all the water has a similar texture. The current textures don't really capture the style. It would be nice if they were reworked, so that perhaps the waves are small but still have the old style whilst the rest of the terrain stays the same colour blue instead of it all being covered in the waves like the old design. That's my prefference. I know that it would mean that Shipwrecked would need to be reworked and would need even more time than the dtime it is planned for being released, however I would suggest that for now it could be implemented the way you planned it; with two worlds but then after a certain update it would all be one. Old worlds of course would still have the worlds separate, though you could go through teleportato to then have it all in one world due to the update. Or perhaps later on make it so that you can choose whether to have separate worlds or all together. As for something like the giants appearing on Shipwrecked islands, then I have the following to say: it can all be biome or terrain based; for instance, you'd get hound attacks on the land whilst tigershark attacks on water. As for giants, you could only get them if you are on the mainland and not on one of the islands.Either way I'd like to know the opinions of other forumers here. I know most people had preferred Shipwrecked as a DLC, but those who do, would you prefer it as being all together or seperate worlds? So even if the worlds are put together only months later after the DLC's release, would you want that if certain mechanics are put in place for certain mobs to not appear on certain parts of the world? Cyde042
They already stated their work of plan. The two worlds mashed together is a horrible idea from both visual satisfaction, coding issues and player experience. Picture legend:Orange - shipwrecked islandsGreen - mainlandRed - distance one could travelLet's take a look at picture #1: http://i.imgur.com/L0ZH7g8.pngOf course it's just 1 piece of land, but imagine it being a "normal" world, it would take at least 1 day to travel from one end to the other. Having the islands placed that way, will kill the experience because they are so far apart, Shipwrecked will add muscles (clams I guess?), some trading mob (because dubloons will be used that way, dev said it), corals and maybe even more things that haven't been yet showcased or are in the process of making. Imagine having a precious island spot with all goodies like bamboo and such that's so far away from another island with goodies (and that will of course be guaranteed to happen every now and then), and you'd have to travel a great just to it, and it would take more than 1 day to get from one island to the farthest one because the radius is greater than that of the mainland. Let's take a look at picture #2: http://i.imgur.com/a3rtNi5.png The islands are closer together in comparison, everything is so close to each other and travelling isn't a hassle to waste time on. It keeps exploration interesting, it keeps everything great. I saw no mention of the world being a cylinder. And I already covered picture 3, if those were great locations, they are too far apart from each other and you'd have to either swim along the shore to it or go on the mainland. @XirmiX @Cyde042 How about this?http://imgur.com/RHMnZolhttp://imgur.com/YYJpJaG Well, that isn't really any different than making 2/3 separate worlds, isn't it? t0panka
Well, that isn't really any different than making 2/3 separate worlds, isn't it? You can't see difference between implementing SW to DS+ROG vs SW different world? That world i draw (guys we are awesome artists ) could be awesome but anyway i am curious how Klei will implement SW. BTW since they wanted to do SW as standalone i guess there is something more than islands like lava caves or some special lava islands! Anyway can't wait for some new info/stream or actual release Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/57901-some-questions-about-shipwrecked-content-and-prefference-to-its-implementation/#findComment-673549 Share on other sites

Anyway can't wait for some new info/stream or actual release I mean since they won't really interfere with each other (since the a lands masses are distant from each other), then there's no reason not to make it a separate world. This is not what XirmiX wants. XirmiX
@Cyde it wouldn't really be a cylinder but more of a sphere that isn't technically 3D, since you could go to top and end up at the bottom and vice versa anyway. But, as I've written in another topic already, I was thinking that poerhaps your character would always be in the middle of the map when you open up your map and it'd just seem like the world is moving until you move around the map with your cursor. This isn't impossible, so why not do it? Also, what's your problem with moving through the mainland? I don't have any problem with it. I would love to partly go through the ocean and partly through the land. It's not like in RoG for instance that you need it all to be giants content; it's basics first and everything put together makes things even more interresting, whereas separate will just give completely different experience and going from two worlds that are so different texture and mechanic wise would just feel weird to me. Not sure about you, but I'd be completely fine moving through mainland or simply have the ability to go in one direction and end up at the same place, because why not? It'd be fun and less weird instead of you just having a flat pancake world that doesn't make sense with the invisible walls as if there's an edge to the world.
