How to transfer Saves to Dedicated

Recommended Posts

Hello community,

Today i tried setup a dedicated server and it worked well. My goel was to transfer my savefiles from the DST game into the dedicated server.

Therefor i transfered under "dokuments/klei/DoNotStarveTogether/save/season" the right folder (i found out you can look up the foldercode in the "saveindex" File) to my dedicated directory (i use a seperate folder for it).

Basically it works great, i can play on the world, but there is a problem with the playerdata. On some worlds a have to choose a new charakter even i played on that world before. On other worlds it works fine and i can resume with my character.

I also tried to copy the hole "save" folder to my dedi, but i makes no different, so i assume you only need the season folder and the playerdata is also in there.

Either it is by chance, but all world i have used mods (only global Player Icon and Wormhole marks) it doesent work to resume my character, on the other two worlds it works fine.

Does anybody know what the issue is, how it works or how to fix?

I would be very thankfull, because i did a lot of trial and error, but i don´t get it.

Hi @lionking102,

I was unfortunately never try to find out what matched each file or folder so I usually compresses the entire save folder to keep it on my server

maybe you can compress the folder save for having saved all data

that's depend if you are on windows or on linux

Thanks @ToNiO55 for your answer,

What do you mean with "compress"? I tried to copy the hole save folder to my dedicated, but it didn´t work. On some worlds it worked perfektly by only copying the "season" from the world i want to play.

So i guess it´s a problem, when you have used a mod on a world, because on that worlds the playerdata got lost...

@lionking102,

unfortunatly im on linux, when I compress said, I mean compression software as winwar or winzip or 7zip

You can try to send me one of your backup of your folder save, that I can check on my test server if there is not a problem?
