Using Nature against itself

Recommended Posts

So. winter, lovely time of the year, especially when not only do you have to worry about finding food, but freezing to death. I made the bright decision to make my camp in the middle of a savannah near some wild beefalo. It's a fairly good size camp, and I even put out a meat plant.

On day 13,  I was attacked by wolves. Rather than face them head on I ran them straight into the middle of a beefalo herd. Five wolves did not stand a chance. Unfortunately none dropped teeth, but whatever, I have unlimited protection from attacks so long as I keep near the herd.

Now its winter and well, two in-heat beefalo have tried to take over my camp. Near by a group of pengils have taken up nest. They have 3 eggs and my hunger is VERY low. So as I eat my last carrot I say. "I wonder if I can get the beefalo to distract those pengils so I can get the eggs." So I try it out. I only aggro one, and draw it straght to the pengils. While thats going on I manage to snatch one egg and then sit back as the beefalo gets killed and the second comes in to aid only to suffer the same fate. Now I have excess beefalo wool and a good ration of meat to tide me over for a couple of days.

All I can say is. Nature, thank you for killing yourself so I don't have to build bad Karma to keep myself alive.

That's a really smart idea, using beefalo to kill pengulls. I can't tell you how many times they have killed me. I want the eggs and I think "how bad can it be?". Every. Single. Time. I think pengulls have killed me more than deerclops (and that says something).
