Hair Layering, Question about layers and the animation system.

Recommended Posts

So, after 40+ hours working on 3 characters i have run in to a problem.
hairlayer.png?raw=1

I have 2 characters that need hair on a much lower layer.
I thought I coud do that in spriter.

It didnt take. Is there a way to fix this?
Or a way to edit or create new new animations.

If not Im not afraid to re-animate all the actions.
I'm a collage grad with a Bachelors of Fine Art in 3D animation.
And a minor in Computer Infromation Systems (Comuter science).

And jobless. I have the time. Just point me in the right direction.

Actual the problem here i dont have copys of the original animations.
I think this is posible but i guess ill be reanimating without the samples this may be pretty hit or miss.

@DerpTime,

You can accomplish this as long as you have a minor in Notepad++(or your preferred editor ;))

I was actually planning on doing this once I finished some other projects I'm working on, but if you would like to do it you are more than welcome to!

You can use the BinaryConverter tool to convert animations to intermediate text files.  From there, you'll need to adjust the z-order of all of the hair elements,  After you do that, you can recompile them using BinaryConverter.

Make sure that you run the animations through precise mode though, or else data will be lost for technical reasons(Klei animations use matrix transforms while the 'simple' mode attempts to translate those into position/scale/rotate values, which means things like skew are unable to be represented)

You can find BinaryConverter in the downloads section somewhere, though I think atm there is only a windows binary up there.

@Corrosive

ok.

Sound positive.
Sounds long.

I'm going to get started.

Does this mean I update all the animation filles?
I have alot of questions, but I think once i start looking in the files some should answer them selves.

If your up for it I would be grateful if you would add me on steam or skype.

@DerpTime,

Oh, sorry I apparently missed this message =o

To make sure someone gets a notify, you can either select some text in their post and click "@mention" in the popup, or if that doesn't work for you, you can use:

@[member=<name>]

eg.

@[member=Corrosive]

Only, without the bold brackets, of course ;)
