Dedicated Server is visible ingame but I am unable to connect to it

Hi. Sorry in advance for the long post.

So I am trying to make a  Don't Starve Together dedicated server on a Ubuntu server (14.04). I set it up accordingly to the wiki page                                                                                                                           ( http://dont-starvegame.wikia.com/wiki/Don%E2%80%99t_Starve_Together_Dedicated_Servers ). I can see the server on the server selection page ingame, but when I try to connect to the server I get a '' Server wont respond'' error. I'm pretty sure I did a good Port Fowarding and a correct iptables setup.

Ok so a friend of mine was able to connect and play in my server. The server is on an independent machine, so I don't know if the fix posted by  DarkXhero in his post ''solutions host+client in same PC'' will apply...

Yup, I can connect myself.

 

Try connect by switching in your filters to Show Lan > Yes.

Else, try connecting by clicking Play!, opening the console, and using c_connect(ip, 10999, "test") command, with ip being the ip you have in your router that portforwards to your pc.

 

This is the hairpin NAT thing, you contact your server via router, then your server contacts you directly to your computer, then the handshakes get screwed.
