Issue Title: server crashes with game

Issue Description: I have followed the troubleshooting steps for DS for both the problem I'm having with that game(different than this problem)and for DST as well. I made sure that the log file was a new one, so there wouldn't be a problem trying to zip up an enormous and mostly too old bunch of info and I also labled the log files according to which one came first. This problem started all of a sudden about a month and a half ago, shortly after Don't Starve stopped working as well, so I'm starving for a fix of the game. I usually use mods, but for troubleshooting purposes, all mods were turned off through all of this. Please let me know if there is any other info I can send you. There was no mdmp files for DST.

Steps to Reproduce: I had no problems with DST up until a month and a half ago. Then suddenly every time I would try to start it, I could get as far as making the server, editing the world and then starting it up. It would whir and show the graphics and act as though it was going to work, and then I would get a windows message saying that DST was having a problem and needed to close. I immediately turned off all mods and tried it again. Same result. It's taken me this long to get around to posting since winter is hard on my disability and I get much less done. But between when it stopped working and today, I've gone and tried to run it at least a dozen times, with the same results. Following the troubleshooting steps, and I did do all of them, had no effect. I had really been hoping that updating the older graphics driver would be the problem, but everything is up to date as of this morning and I'm still getting the same error message. The final file is a diagnostic from Razer Cortex, which has all the technical info on system and hardware that I know you guys need.

Help, I need my game back!!!! What happened to it?? Seriously, thanks in advance from a someone who is dying to play!

@Arulane, I can't see the log because the submission form is evil and doesn't actually attach them to your post (although apparently the files are accessible to Klei somehow), but is it possible that the game got switched to integrated graphics with too little dedicated memory somehow? That's the most recent thing that I've seen causing this. If you can force it to use your discrete graphics, hopefully that'll solve it.

hmm.. I'm not sure how to get you the logs then, if they don't come through this time. And while your suggestion sounds interesting, I don't have the faintest idea how to tell what it's using atm. I'm not too sure there was a problem with too little dedicated memory. I have 16 Gig of RAM, the Ramdisk itself and over 200 gigs free per drive.

I have no idea how to get it to use the Ramdisk yet either, if it's not, since this is a new situation for me and I only upgraded the computer about 8 months ago. I was kind of hoping the system knew how to use it, which generally works until it's proven it's not....   Is there something you can point me to that I can read and  that will explain this concept a little better?  Like how to tell which graphics arrangement a computer is using out of what's possible, and then what you can do to make it use what you want? I'm a fairly quick learner.. just a bit slow in execution, due to  my personal energy system lacking a few essential ingredients. :juggling:DST log #1 2-7-15.txtDST log #2 2-7-15.txt

@Arulane, Hmm, well your logs definitely show that it's using your discrete card:

[00:00:00]: GL_RENDERER: ANGLE (AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series)

6700 should be in the 1-2GB range if I remember correctly, so that should be more than enough.

Both logs get into generating the world and cut off after/during populating voronoi:

[00:00:22]: Creating story...
[00:00:22]: LinkNodesByKeys
[00:00:22]: Baking map... 425
[00:00:23]: Map Baked!
[00:00:23]: Encoding...
[00:00:23]: Encoding... DONE
[00:00:23]: Checking Tags
[00:00:23]: Populating voronoi...

So it's not getting far enough to have saved the world file to reload on the second log's boot.

You said you tried troubleshooting, so I'll guess that means verifying game cache, restarting, deleting and reinstalling, running as administrator, etc. Do you have any generated worlds left over that you can try to load up? Do those load fine?

Maybe I'm just too tired right now, but the only thing occurring to me is to check if saving files to the config directory (Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether) is working. It could be permissions got messed up somehow, or maybe your hard drive developed a bad sector or something. See if changing settings in the game (like netbook mode, show passwords) actually changes the settings.ini and that they get saved when you relaunch the game. I guess another thing you could try is making a new user account on your computer and installing it on there (that will use a different Documents folder for the new user, and hopefully avoid the problems that exist with the current one).

Hopefully a dev will have seen something like this before and have better ideas on what might be the cause...

yep, did all that stuff, since if I didn't, I would be told to go do it.. it is part of troubleshooting. I've been able to join a different server today for a short while, but it wasn't giving me any clues to why mine isn't working all of a sudden. I think I'm about to try the uninstall-reinstall one more time, going back to reinstall both the directx and visual C++ before I try running it again. This is so frustrating, especially when both games were running fine before. ARG!!!

I do appreciate you taking a look and letting me know what you could pick out from it. At least I know a little more than before.

Hey @Arulane

Could you please upload your dxdiag so I can see exact specs of your system?

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay on answering. Same reasons as before.. my health sucks. But while I'm getting a break today, here is the DXdiag I did at the same point in time as the other troubleshooting info. If you want a current one rather than the one that goes with the troubleshooting, I can do that too. No hardware has been changed since the first Dxdiag, so here it is.

I will try to get back to you more quickly after this. Btw, I can now get the standalone version to work, but neither DS nor DST were working in Steam last time I tried, which was around the time I posted to the forum. I do move the DS Standalone's files to a different folder in Documents before running the steam versions and although I only run the standalone when the Steam version isn't working, I still move Steam's DS and DST versions to a different folder as well after I'm done playing each time.

All troubleshooting is done per your posts about in the DS forums, and with no mods enabled.

Hmm, even though the mods have been disabled, it looks like the game is still trying to call them up. Alas, out-of-date, bugged, or corrupted mods can cause issues when booting the game even if they have been disabled.

Try deleting the contents of your "Mods" folder in Steam\SteamApps\common\Don't Starve Together Beta\mods.

Once the contents have been deleted, try running the game again to see if that resolves your crash issue.

I had noticed that, that the game seemed to be trying to call in the mods even though they were disabled. I'll give your suggestion a try and change my subscriptions in STEAM to eliminate any mods that are out-dated as well. But I'll do the testing once I've taken out the mods and subscriptions, so it will be truly mod-free. Sorry it takes me so long to answer. But I will post eventually what happens with this and whether it works. Thank you for taking a look.

Deleting the mod folder and starting over with the mods, making sure to weed out all those out of date ones is what fixed it. Thanks. Don't know why it didn't occur to me to try that. From now on, that's what I'll start with, when troubleshooting.

Appreciate your patience and your help!! thanks!
