Drax100 Posted January 16, 2015 Share Posted January 16, 2015 Bug Submission: Category: Server Crash Issue Title: Error code -103 at "Creat an Account" screen Issue Description: Similiar to this topic here: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/48724-general-cant-play-the-game/ I unable to make an account upon clicking Play in Steam to launch Don't Starve, then clicking Play in Don't Starve game and clicking "Create Account" button. The window does not load or loads after two or so minutes onto an error screen saying unable to connect to server in the steam browser. I have tried inside a normal browser as well and doesn't work. Any remedies to this issue? Bought the Founder's Pack if that has anything to do with it? Steps to Reproduce: Step 1: Start up Steam. Step 2: Click Play under "Library" tab>>Don't Starve game, to start the game. Step 3: Click on "Play" in Don't Starve game. Step 4: Click "Create Account" to open Steam browser window. Step 5: Fill out information to create account and click Submit. The page doesn't load. outseeker Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Haven't seen this error myself, but I can suggest basic stuff like right clicking the game, Properties, Local Files tab, Verify the game files are all OK. Also close Steam, browse to the DST game folder within the steam folder and install prereq's from the VCRedist folder and dxsetup from the DXRedist folder, then restart the beast. Developer MarkL Posted January 23, 2015 Developer Share Posted January 23, 2015 Hey @Drax100, Basically the 103 error means the web browser has been blocked (technically: ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED ). I suspect the Steam browser its self is the blocked bit. Or some security setting things the web-page is being naughty. The first thing I would try is disabling steam overlay. This will cause that pop-up to appear in your default web browser instead of the overlay. You could also simply copy the link and try to open it in another browser. If the problem persists, I would check what anti-virus and anti-malware I had running, looking for anything on my system that might interfere. I'll take a look at how the webpage transfers you to the next step- to see if anything might be a red flag for security software. Same thing still happens, the connection times out/ it won't connect to server. I even tried it on smart phone browser. Maybe I got a bad "steam account signup ID thingy" ? outseeker Posted January 24, 2015 Share Posted January 24, 2015 hmm well that makes it reasonably understandable, you're not receiving any response from Klei servers if I understand that message. Pretty certain the servers are up and functioning, so you have something blocking your access to certain websites or IP addresses it seems. Kinda handy you tried on your smart phone, since doing so implies it's an issue with your modem/router firewall perhaps rather than the PC firewall. Unless the game is failing to generate a valid link for registration, but I can't help with that in any way, should that be the case XD Assuming you used the smart phone over WIFI: do you know how to temporarily disable a router firewall? Still got error connecting to login server. Has to be a bad login link generation then ? x.x Maybe ? Anyone know if I'll have this same problem with the free one I'll get upon full release( since I got frontier pack on top of already owning original don't starve)? Hoping it's just cause it's not out yet . But if it's linked to my steam account majigger , am I out of luck? The way this will work is it'll say "Does this account have Don't Starve, but not Don't Starve Together? If so, give it DST". But your problem is still almost certainly related to networking-- firewall, antivirus, router settings. You haven't said here that you tried any of the suggestions related to that... So try them? Drax100 Posted February 5, 2015 Author Share Posted February 5, 2015 Actually, I did say disabled my wifi and used celluar data to try it, guess just assumed I tried that already. ^.^ But, yeah, tried it already. Different browsers, different connections , various ways that conclude it's a bad link generation. Always says "login server busy" or doesn't load the page at all. I read a few other posts of people having the problem awhile back , but think it was just die to heavey traffic on the login servers on games release ? Inregards to the free copy , was thinking for some reason we were only buying into the steam pre release and the "full" version was different entity altogether. Guess I'll wait for PS4 version .
