Number of "character"

Maybe a small number over the character's profile picture during character selection so we can see how many of that character is currently in the server? Sorta something like Team Fortress 2. 'Cause it's kinda awkward when you join a random server and decide to choose Wilson, only to later realize there are already 7 Wilsons on that server. I heard they're gonna add a feature so that you can see the server info (including the players already in the server) from the lobby, but there are some careless people (like me) that tend to join servers without spending a lot of time looking at everything. Plus, this kinda seems easier to implement as a sort of temporary measure..

The request to see how many of a certain character currently exist on the server is a good one... I know others have requested it as well, and I definitely see the benefit. I don't mind one way or the other if it's in the lobby, or in the character-select screen. Probably easier in the character-select screen actually, so the lobby isn't built up with walls of text and more easily overlooked.

 

But as for careless people who don't look at everything... well, "careless" is your bad. It's no one elses responsibility to cater to laziness. If the tools and information are there, then it's up to you to use them. If someone overlooks text clearly presented in a lobby or in the character-select screen, that's on them. A flashing neon pop-up could also act as an alert without any extra effort on the players part. But that's awfully 1996, and is a really poor user-experience for those who actually do have the foresight to glance for just a second at what's in front of them.
