Surival Ghosts Sanity Drain is PVP Grief [Dedicated]

Recommended Posts

This is what happens...

a player dies
- dies to another player
- dies to starvation, npc death or darkness

now this player is a GHOST

- sanity drain on all other players, eventually killing them all if the ghost stays in game

now, on a PVP server, this is broken.
- 1 or 2 ghosts waiting to be revived, only to die again within 2 days, are ridiculous
- in 3 days time that ghost has already nearly killed all the remaining players (even those wearing top hats)

>> you can sleep, yes... this works, we're talking a tent per player and a huge drain on food, yet again, leading to death and server wipe.

Scenario:
1. Join Public Server, 5/10 Players, SanFran Survival - Day1
2. 1-2 players die (yes on Day1... happens constantly) and they sit in ghost mode
3. Everyone else eventually dies because of ghost(s) and sanity drain

@Icon, Survival PvP just doesn't make any sense. As for the Survival non-PvP dedicated servers, *shrug*. I think it just needs votekicking to work, but personally I don't think Survival will ever work particularly well on public (and especially dedicated) servers. My impression was that it's intent was more towards people wanting an experience closer to single-player to play with a known group of players.

How does Survival PVP not make sense?

It is by far the most entertaining gameplay...
- thieves
- murderers

added to the game, unpredicatability... if someone messes with your camp... kill them

Survival PvP is slow suicide. Anyone dead hurts everyone else, so if you kill someone, you're hurting yourself.

You kill someone, they will start draining your sanity as a ghost. If you manage to be the last one standing, it'll be you at zero sanity vs shadow creatures until you die and the world resets.

Either you're being sarcastic or you want Endless PvP.

Edit: Okay, so Endless PvP without the portal revival. If you have control of the server, you could just delete the portal.

No I don't want Endless mode - that's stupid.

Once a player is dead... he is dead forever.

UPDATE
--------------------

I made it to Day88 on SanFran Survival...

- A Day5 player named 'lek0' died... he then destroyed my entire base as a ghost.... destroyed everything, my entire camp..
IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE BROKEN THAN THAT!

So... I logged out, for now.  :jaded:

I solve this issue by not playing Survival.  I don't understand why everyone plays Survival exactly because of the ghost sanity issue.  I play Wilderness either with or without PvP.  That way, dying actually means something to the person dying, and not everyone else.  I would only play Endless if I was looking to play a very noob friendly game.

That's not a solution for the people who want to play Survival, that's avoiding the problem. Survival is the closest mode to single player, since you lose the world if you all die with no way to revive.
