What is "snapshots"?

Under server settings, I noticed I have the ability to regurarly perform snapshots of my servers.

What is this feature / what does it do?

Snapshot Day 3, Day 6, Day 9 for example, if you activate one you revert your server to the start of that day (world, players the whole deal)

So it's a save file basically? Follow-up:

• Do I still keep my snapshots if all players starve to death - can I still revert and start over?
• What happens when I've filled up all save slots? Does saving continue (automatically overwrites the oldest), or can I delete them manually to keep saving at later levels?

I nthink it overwrites the oldest saves. The snapshot feature was added to minimize the damage when a random player comes and does stuff like burning everything. So after that, you can just ban the player and choose the newest snapshot.
