days accumulated differently between players

Recommended Posts

So much brother and I were playing last night, he was the host. the long and short of it is I died and we decided to take a break, when we came back my brother suggested that I didn't rejoin his game to help him stay sane until he could craft the tth... so I watched his game and it took a couple days for him to find the spider gland, get to base them back to me at which point I joined and he revived me... no big deal

But on my world it says day 25 and for him it says day 31.. now again this isn't necessarily a big deal for us except in my game it should have been a full moon but it wasn't... (I am having trouble formulating a coherent phrasing for why this could be problematic.. )

I guess yes with just us two I can just base moon cycles on his days but for larger groups it seems like this could cause group deaths to unexpected werepigs and later when we get rog the glommers items Harder to predict when we go to collect...

I get that he has survived more days but does anyone else think this could cause problems or am I over thinking the difference?

So then world days are accumulated by the host?
Not exactly... Each player has an age, and the world has an age. Player ages pause when they're dead or not on the server, but the world keeps aging. Seasons, moon, etc, are determined by world age, but things that directly relate to players (such as hound amounts) are determined by player age.

So then world days are accumulated by the host?

Not exactly. There is the server day, this is how long the world has existed. Hover over the clock to see this.

There are player days, this is what each player sees on their clock.

If the host died for 3 days, his player day will be 3 days fewer than the server day. If you joined 5 days after the start, your player day will be 1 and server day will be 5.

Edit: I need to stop posting 5sec after someone else.

Wow... thx for the information!

I had no idea how complex the time structure alone was though it makes sense that it would have to be broken up to accurately count each person's days survived... so you can't "survive" as a ghost for days and weeks at a time and then go bragging when really you've had more days dead than lived...tangent question is there away to see how long you existed in a ghost state?
