Nasa5874 Posted January 8, 2015 Share Posted January 8, 2015 Hello! I'm Sean. I recently tried playing Don't Starve Together with my friend, but it does not work. My friend bought the game and got an extra copy of the game, (He owned Don't Starve and he bought the discounted "Frontier Pack"). The Frontier Pack gave him the extra copy. He sent me the extra copy through Steam E-Mail and I claimed the game. I downloaded DST and attempted to run the game, but got an error. "Failed to start game (unknown error)" The game won't let me run it period. I am using an Windows 7 Vista OS to run the game. I have tried everything possible to fix it. I have deleted my steam folder, deleted steam, and have looked online everywhere for a solution, but it is still no use. I am not sure if it was a problem with the game redemption, or the game itself. Please help me find a way to solve this. There's a bug report for it here if you want to go provide your log file or more info. There's a bug report for it here if you want to go provide your log file or more info. Only problem is, I am not sure if I should put it under bug reports because I haven't been able to open the actual game. He had a problem during the installation, I have a problem opening it. I have it fully installed, it is just that I can't get the game to run period. I have it fully installed, it is just that I can't get the game to run period.If it's a crash evolving opening the game and Steam isn't causing any problems, then it's a bug within DST.Other than that, it could be any antivirus programs. He had already installed it. But you're right, your error message is different. Regardless, if it generated a log file (Documents/Klei/DoNotStarveTogether) or a mdmp (near the executable in the Steam game files), you should definitely provide those somewhere in bug reports. You can make your own submission if you want.
