ButterStuffed
I enter the world with 2 pieces of paper and no knowledge of where anything is. I immediately realize that I had entered during the winter months and decide to quickly take action. I look around to find no grass, no rabbit holes and no life. I continue to walk along a path I found and am surprised to see hundreds upon hundreds of skeletons littering the desolate landscape. Among the hundreds of dead bodies I find multiple lighter's of which I claim a lighter for myself to keep visibility during the night. I continue on with my new found lighter and I come across some beefalo and a firepit. I pick up some manure and light the fire to keep myself warm. The next day I start to become hungry and I start to eye the beefalo. Fortunately the beefalo seems to be in large numbers despite the absolute desolation around it. I take a risk and decide to try and take on a lone beefalo with only my lighter. I find to my surprise that the lighter I found is especially good at lighting beefalo on fire and I manage to burn the beefalo to death and cook the meat in the process. I fill my stomach and go on for another day. I repeat this routine for a couple of days until winter ends. Which to my luck was very close to ending when I had joined. I leave my beefalo herd and search for signs of life. I spy a lone tier 3 spider's nest. I decide not to bother it as I had no weapons to defend myself. I find tracks in the dirt and follow them hoping to find a Koalefant but to my dismay I instead find myself in the sights of a Varg. I run and he chases me throughout the night. In the morning of what I was guessing was about day 7, I begin to see some faint signs of life. While the Varg was still chasing me, I quickly examine the trunks of fallen trees and guess where the feller had fled to. I quickly find my prey and bring my large canine hunter with me. The base was set next to the edge of the island and had meager stone walls to protect the open side. I see at least 3 people in the camp. I run in through the small opening which I assume was meant for people to walk through and let the Varg run loose on everyone in the camp. I watch with sick joy as everyone is destroyed by the horde of hounds and to my luck the last survivor slays the beast and with her last breath she curses me and is killed by the remaining hounds. In the fray I had picked up a spare spear and logsuit and kill the 2 remaining hounds. Success! I had all of the base to myself. I loot the late survivors and quickly equip myself with my usual survival attire. I destroy the evidence of the massacre and go on about my usual business. The next day I leave to explore and find nothing of interest. I come back to a very well equipped Wilson. He says hello to me and I decide rather than try to murder the intruder I would work together with him. He was well prepped and seemed to know what he was doing so I didn't think he would be dead weight. I tell him that I am going to go out exploring. I find a swamp littered with considerably more bodies than anywhere else I had explored. At the end of the island I find an abandoned base with a lot of bodies and tentacles everywhere. I try to loot the bodies but in the end I wasn't quick enough and a tentacle killed me. I curse quietly as a ghost and I leave the world. Thanks for reading! If you hadn't caught on already I was describing my experience in one of the dedicated servers in which the world had gone past about 400 days. It was an interesting experience to see how the world had deteriorated throughout the 400 days. It was also interesting how the only things that had survived were the beefalo and very few trees. The Wilson that I had encountered at the end of my journey had actually said "wood was rare" which to me seems like something someone would say in a post apocalyptic world. If you didn't quite understand something I wrote please tell me. This was the first time i've ever actually wrote down a story and I tried to make it more interesting but I may have made it harder to understand. applebottom
I think I know what world you're talking about. I also entered as the nice librarian granny, ready to help out and dispense (long-winded, unsolicited) advice. I ended up needing help myself. It was day 1400+. It was winter. The body count is larger than ever. Willow's lighters and Abigail's flowers were everywhere. I offered up a small prayer for the Willows who died before me before picking up a lighter to avoid Charlie's wrath. I keep walking. There were no twigs and no grass. No trees left to cut and no flint to cut them with. Everything was burned down. You can see from the skeletons that people used to come here in droves, expecting a fun world but freezing to death instead after hopping from tree to tree and lighting it for warmth. There was no live being in sight except birds who drop blessed seeds. Seeds you have to split between eating and burning on the ground when the cold gets too much. Oh, I met "people". Lots of them. All level 3 royal highnesses who pranced around surrounded by their multi-legged subjects. I did not care for them so I moved on. After a few days of walking around, eating stale seeds, the Librarian starts to turn crazy. But just when I was about to give up and leave, I found Him. The Pig King. His piggy subjects? All gone. He told me they've been "relocated". For progress. "Don't you mean for your greed?" is what I wanted to say. But I did not dare offend the last civil person in this cursed place. A civil person surrounded by corpses. Lots of them. With dropped twigs and stone and flint and gold! I asked if I could have some, since he wasn't inclined to get up and use them anyway. He gave me a strange look and said, "Take what you can". So I ran in. Ignoring the warning sounds. Ignoring my sanity. Ignoring the way he said "take what you can". And as the cleverly hidden tentacles murdered me, the last thing I saw was the King, smacking his lips and grunting. "Meat. Meaaaaat. Soooooon." Now I know what he got in exchange for selling his people....... mikeek
Ahh, these stories are terrifying and awesome. Clearly people need to practice more sustainable logging. I didn't realize Deerclops was in DST. For some reason I thought he hadn't been added yet.
