oprea100 Posted January 1, 2015 Share Posted January 1, 2015 I just died for the nth time, because I was running along a swamp, a tentacle came up and whacked me once, and suddenly I'm dead. Its only then that I realize I've been at critically low health the whole time, and/or my armour broke off and I didn't notice (because there isn't any real indication). Its incredibly irritating and immersion breaking that you can run along with 1 health and not really notice unless you look at your indicators. Sanity works perfectly in this regard; you know when you have 2/3 sanity, 1/3 sanity, and are completely insane, because things happen (barking sounds, distorted screen, etc.) when your sanity gets progressively lower. Can we get something similar for health? Most good games have some noise (a heart pumping, beeping, heavy breathing) or other indicator like a red screen, or even the character model having blood/scratches start to cover them. I'm just sick of suddenly dying, not realizing I was walking around on the brink of death because nothing changed since I had full health. Also, because armour is so crucial in this game, the character REALLY needs to say something (my clothing broke!) when their clothing rots off of them. I mean, they say "my light went out!" when the torch goes out (even though its always incredibly obvious), while when the armour FALLS OFF IN MID COMBAT they say absolutely nothing. If anything, I would MUCH rather have health be well indicated than sanity, its pretty obvious that health is a much bigger deal. If Klei prefers sticking to the retarded 1-health is the same as full-health model, then is there some mod that visually indicates that I am literally just about to die, and can tell me when my armour breaks off? About that blood-over effect, I agree that 1/3 or less health should be indicated by consant blood-over, rather than just when getting hit. Maybe somebody winds up making a mod? But yeah, I absolutely need a mod for this, although its so incredibly obvious that I can't see why Klei hasn't put it in the game yet. I mean, the dog barking/distortion with low sanity is just annoying, it doesn't matter that much what my sanity is until it reaches the point that shadow monsters spawn. But it ABSOLUTELY matters what my exact health level is.
