I've looking through inventoryimages.tex and happened to notice a batilisk icon and this got me thinking, why wouldn't you put a Batilisk in a cage? It can function exactly like a bird. And in the cage it would hang upside down.

Unfortunately this would require new animations, which I can't do, any animator up for this job?

I'll do it.  BUT FOR A PRICE.  Of a mention on the mod page.

You've got it. Here's what the inventory icon looks like if you need inspiration. IMO remaking that in flash or whatever, flipping it upside-down, adding closed eye-lids and a breathing animation will suffice for a sleeping state. But you decide that after all.

@KidneyBeanBoy I don't know what a bat smells like but I do know how a pig pen does. Also, wrong thread for a Pig in a cage.

Good point. I want to make it an alternative to the bird. So feeding it veggies, will drops seeds. Feeding it meat, will drop guano. I think it's fair.

Sounds fair, and this sounds like a cool mod! I've always wanted more interaction with batilisks, but I'm not often in the mood to venture to an open sinkhole at night to find them. This will make that a more worthwhile venture.

How will we go about catching them in the first place? If it's the existing bug net, maybe for balance's sake catching a batilisk could lower the durability more than the usual 10% for bees/fireflies.

Also is the batilisk cage going to be a cloned/standalone item, or are you modding the behaviour of the existing birdcage to allow putting either birds or batilisks in? Just wondering about compatibility, because I know I have at least one mod that directly effects birdcages (time-based birdcage drops).

Regarding how do you catch them. It will be with the use of a bugnet and I don't think it's necessary to drain more durability but since it's called a "BUGnet", it might be appropriate to change the drain valute. I thought that you'd only be able to catch them when they're sleeping, they're hard to catch when they're nervous, I'm telling from experience.

And what goes for the cage, it's gonna be the vanilla cage, and I don't think it should have problems with that mod. But for the sake of not being OP, the bat won't drop guano periodically.
