Chess biome.

Hello. I'm having a bit of trouble finding the chess biome.

 

 think I've explored literally every part of the map here. I found chester, like 3 things, and maxwell's door. But no damn chess biome. Any idea where it could be? I got really happy when I spawned right next to the beefalo and I should be able to get like 50 more gold nuggets on top of the 50 I already have because there's just so many golden rocks. But winter's coming and I wanted the ice box.

I am playing without the reign of giants thing because...well...I suck And I want to get good with the vanilla game first.

It's very possible you didn't get a chess biome in the generation, considering it's a setpiece rather than an actual biome. I don't really know what to say, honestly, other than to make a new game,

It's have 100% chance to spawn

You also missing swamp. There should be bridge somewhere

That map is so tiny. You still have to explore parts of the map in the savannah biome to the east. Like mitboy said, there's also no swamp so if you explore the rest of that savannah and come up empty I'd start jumping thru wormholes. It looks like there's 3 that I can see. I've played a bunch of Don't Start games and have ALWAYS come across the chess set piece. Need to look a little more.

Okay, I'll try going to the savannah biome a little bit more (even though there's only the tiniest spot of unexplored area over there that also collides with the edge...so if it's there I will...flip the f out :/ )

Lol. I actually seen 2 spots. Northeast and towards the south. My guess is the one to the south will lead you to the swamp. Could be wrong tho. It happens from time to time.

And indeed I shall shoot myself, for in that tiny smidgen of unexplored savannah there was a path leading to both the swamp and the chess biome (though the chess biome was really far away, literally at the end of the map). Thanks guys.

Whenever you're looking for a specific biome.... it's ALWAYS in the last place you look. Glad you found it!

It seems you have 3 wormholes in your world. Try jumping in one of them. You might have your world just split in half for some reason...

Where the chess biomes spawn is random. They can spawn in almost any other biome. You can usually hear the chesspieces creaking as a hint that you're nearby them. 

 

When you get there, I suggest summoning a tree guard, because the chesspieces automatically attack a treeguard.

You can have them fight and collect the spoils after they're done.

and don't worry, the treeguard will not target you after they kill the chesspieces. Unless you attack it, it will ignore you.
