How do I start a Reign of Giants game in the humble store version?

I have purchased the original and the reign of giants dlc via the Humble Store.  I installed them both, but when I start the game there is no indication that I have the dlc installed.  I started a new game, and it seems like everything is the same as it was before having the dlc.

 

My research indicates there should be a checkbox when I am at the "new game" menu, but I don't see anything there.  I tried this in both Windows using the installers, and Linux by unpacking the 64bit tar files into the same directory and both behave in the same way.

 

How do I start a new Reign of Giants game?

Yes, I downloaded both installers from my Humble Store account.

I ran the game under strace, and it looks like the lua paths are not setup correctly for the dlc:

I have the same problem. Win XP SP3. Dont Starve runs properly, problem is only the DLC.

Hey folks, could I get you to run your standalone updater and ensure that you've downloaded the latest version of the Standalone? Once updated to the latest version, Reign of Giants for the standalone version (if RoG files have been installed to the same folder as Don't Starve) should be activated.

Is deleting the updater.json file how you reset the updater settings?

 

I deleted the file and started the game but the updater still didn't pop up.

I'm still on the base game with no DLC. Just wanting to auto-update so I don't miss anything!

Yup, you should be able to find the file in Documents\Klei\DoNotStarve\updater.json. Delete it; this should get your updater to pop-up the next time you run the game.

 

If you've deleted updater.json and the updater still isn't coming up, you can manually update your standalone using your "updater.exe" file, located within your game files.

 

For example: Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (x86) > DontStarve > updater > 20 > updater.exe
