I actually never knew what it really did, i was just guessing it was something related to caves/ruins.

I guess i was sorta right.

I use it to maximize the peaceful time by waiting till it says the nightmare is going away. At that point I go ahead and explore more.

 

 

Its not favorite item however. Its not like I coach this to my friends.

What are you talking about?! The medallion is super cerial~ Imagine if Terrorbeaks all began spawning from their designated persistent spawners during a visually-obvious phase that gave you plenty of time to react and you didn't have the medallion to also forewarn you of the menacing wraiths that oh-so-struggle to even land a hit.

 

The medallion should probably perk up with a shield or something when the Nightmare Phase switches on. Maybe a light, or just some kind of aura, or something that interacts with the environment (only in Level 2 Caves though) to make it 'fun'.
