Fish should bite more frequently when it's raining. Frogs left over from frog rain should freeze when winter comes. I've gotten into the habit of taking my stored bird with me when I go out for longer than a day so I don't have to catch another one when I get back. I've moved different types of food over different animals in inventory, tried rocks for the moleworm, and I couldn't do anything.
