RoG Updates (Pre RoG worlds))

Recommended Posts

I mean like, my current world is RoG enabled, but now I'm wondering if the new updates fir the RoG carry over automaticly to the already existing RoG world I play in, or If I have to move on to a new one.

I've wondered that about things like giants.  My understanding of them is they're just sort of an event, and don't depend on spawners like catcoons for instance, so I don't see why they wouldn't start showing up in a pre-April 2nd world.  Warg too for that matter, since I think he is spawned at the end of a koalephant trail, so theoretically the new code for 'what's at the end of this trail' should work just as well in an old RoG world I think.   I don't have proof of any of that though.

But anything that has a spawn in the world - catcoons, voltgoats, birchguards, etc.  That stuff you definitely need a new world (teleportato or otherwise).

Giants and wargs and anything event-based (non-world-gen-determined) applies immediately after update. I have a world where I killed the deerclops and got its eye, then went to the patch with the other giants and fought the dragonfly. I can't make the houndius shootius because the recipe is different now :(

Actually birchguards count as an event, though. You don't need a new world.
