Controller + Birch Tree Chopping

Recommended Posts

The auto-targeting logs to pick up when using a controller seems to be blocked by the Birch Tree Stump...forcing players to move their character in order to start picking up the logs.

This is a different behavior than the evergreen trees. When chopping down an evergreen the player can pick up the logs without having to move their character.

Other Notes:

  • Hounds roaming the deserts is awesome.
  • Great job on adding full moon lighting.
  • I'm not convinced wetness adds much to gameplay - but I haven't been through a winter/spring cycle yet - I'm sure hypothermia will settle in at some point.
  • I died due to overheating...having never seen it before I thought the forest was poisoning me - I missed the on-screen text and died shortly after.
  • Are all Rabbit Holes collapsed after the DLC? or were they collapsed because I only found rabbits in Beefalo areas?

I didn't get to play much so that's all I have to report for now.

I played another 20 or so days - I ended up with a Bearger Crash (posted in the technical issues forum: http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/34181-berger-made-me-crash/)

  • With a fresh world I'm no longer seeing the collapse rabbit holes...but the previous game there was nothing but collapsed rabbit holes. When I first start in the world I spend the first couple of weeks systematically uncovering the map. It's weird that the rabbit holes were all collapsed in the first run, but none were collapsed in the second. could this be a bug?
  • I got Glommer this time...while he's interesting, his flapping sound is really, really annoying...a lot more intrusive than Chester's.
  • I was being attacked by spiders and Glommer dropped his goo but was still alive. Not sure if this is intended.
  • The blue fire pit seems a bit on the expensive side to build (inventory space-wise) especially considering how deadly overheating is.

To address some of your points:

  • Gloomer automatically drops one goo per 2 days, I think.
  • There was a bug where all the rabbit holes appeared to be collapsed but in reality wasn't. This is fixed now.
  • There are several bugs related to examining new mobs: bearger, warg and molerat(raised dirt). These, I believe, are not fixed yet.But again, the devs replied they would fix it fast.It has been fixed
  • You do not have to build the blue fire pit at all. You can wear the ice cube and set up a normal fire pit without overheating.
  • wetness used to be a pain in the arse when the devs coded wetness as related to the environment. Although toning it down was a nice touch, I kinda regretted that change(since it was a good challenge).

Wasn't sure if BipedalBear's answer fully addressed this question - rabbit holes all collapse in spring due to wetness (and produce no rabbits).  So if you have a spring start they will indeed all be collapsed.  They'll open up later.    There used to be a bug where they appeared collapsed all year, though they would still produce rabbits in the non-spring times.  If you are seeing this bug again, report it.
