His new ability would be heating up a thermal stone when placed inside him, providing a very small amount of light, and cooking food overtime. This would make him essential in winter if you lack the materials for a campfire, as he can give you your stone and save you from Charlie. A debuff would be food expiring slightly quicker, but you can almost renew that from it cooking naturally, allowing you to open Chester to find cooked food.
