JadedMeiji Posted March 4, 2014 Share Posted March 4, 2014 So I recently learned bees pollinate evil flowers I have a section in my base now for them but I wanna keep them in one location.... will one tier walls keep them in or do I need 2 tier? What's the best time to harvest honey were the least amount of bees get upset?How many bee boxes are recommended?Will killer bee hives blow up using gunpowder? How many would it take? (I lure a tree guard with me to the hives and let him kill the bees... but too many take him out quickly so I need to clear the field quicker than one at a time... Most are clumped together)Can killer bees be used in place of bees for bee mines? Zalyn Posted March 4, 2014 Share Posted March 4, 2014 According to the wiki, it is better to harvest later in the day because more bees are out. But I just harvest and run away. I prefer not to blow up killer bee hives since you can get honeycombs from them to build bee boxes. Just a suggestion. Even though you can't make bombs with killer bees (it would be nice if killer bees went in bee bombs instead of worker bees), I still collect a stack of them and toss them down when fighting a Spider Queen or other big nasty. The bees land on the ground and take a second to rouse themselves, giving you time to run away so they aggro on something else. Quite handy. You can also keep killer bees in Chester as a nasty surprise for anything that kills it. Not certain about walls, I never build them, but I thought I remember seeing out-and-about in the forums that your walls have to built to tier 3 to contain them. Bees contained to a hive won't spawn new flowers though, only loose bees that you catch with a bug net and release. 2. Winter for regular bees, they won't come out at all. During other seasons, late day (not dusk) is good because the bees should be out of their hive pollinating flowers. Killer bees, no time, they always spawn.3. Totally up to you and your strategy. I generally only have 2-3 because I find the amount of honey I harvest in winter is more than enough for what I use it for (the rare honey ham, usually honey poultices).4. Yes they will, but I'm not sure how much. I use other methods to get rid of them (mobs or fire).5. After that point, they become ghosts and fly through whatever they feel like and proceed to make a new flower completely at random anywhere on the screen.
