Out of Date

Recommended Posts

Hello. I had some Mods installed. " days ago I wanted to start the game and now almost every Mod i was using is Out of Date. Now my game settings are destroyed. it won't load my saved games and I can only start the game with one single mod activated. all other mods are out of date. It was so much fun playing the game and now exerything is destroyed. Why I can't use these mods anymore and how can a mod be out of date. This is destroying the game fun and killed my save I was putting a lot of effort into. Is this happening all the time ? How can I play the game then without loosing my save games all the time ? I like DOn't STarve but this is NASTY.

I am very new to Don't Starve and can't offer any technical support but for now try the "NoDLC" mod that Rincewind created recently and see if it helps at all.  It reduced my loading times a bit, hopefully will make the game playable for you.  There have been a lot of updates for the upcoming DLC recently so lots of problems have arisen with mods (see some of the other threads on here).  Good luck.

I'm just learning to mod and was wondering about the API too. I notice that some of the mods that say "out of date" still work. So does changing the API version actually do anything or is it there more just to provide info, i.e. let you know that the mod may not work because it hasn't been updated since a patch?

Basically yes.  Anytime the game itself has non trivial changes the devs up the API version.  You should always test your mods against the current version so if a mod has a version of 1-4 (current is now 5) that means the coder hasnt bothered checking to see if the mod still works or not.
