Why Abigail Why Ghostly Problems

I Know right know Klei priority is Reign of giants right now but im posting this anyways. In some hope that at least they see it or address it. and i have posted this on steam but know real feed back has come of it.

 

It is day 101 and Abigail has been pretty much useless. Whenever hounds show up she’s dead and they come 3-7 days now and with Abigail’s respawn time around 3-4 days it can be troublesome. When I need her to help farm spiders or fight tail birds she dead and why? It’s because she always tries to tank which isn’t always a good thing. When tree guards show up (which every 4 of so days two more decide to grace me with their presence) Abigail Starts to attack and I do what I can to try to get her to avoid them but she gets close enough, then she agros them and I have to pull out the pimp cane and hall it in the opposite direction so Abigail will stop fighting because she can’t take them and I’m in no way ready for a fight. Then she shows up almost dead with that sad look on her face. After that then hounds show up and she dies. This happens a lot with a lot of different enemies and there have been many times in when I would like to gather a certain thing but there are dangers nearby and Abigail will get killed if she comes or severely hurt, then she won’t be able to tank/ help me kill something later like tail birds.If I try to use the ice staff on deer clops she attacks and I can’t place dynamite. If I’m trying to get away from the love able mac and wee tusk because I don’t want to deal with him she gets hit and run s off screen and I have to do the same thing with the tree guards. But like with the tree guards she doesn’t always come back as I open my map and see the flower where she died, thus causing even more of a pain.

 

 I would just like to say that I like Wendy she’s my favorite character. As well as Abigail but the amount of time I’ve been hinder by her absence and lack of control I have over her has gotten me killed quite a lot more then she helped. I like the dmg that she does how she does more dmg at night, her AOE attacks are fine and so is her heath. I just feel that there should be a way to controller her a bit more.

 

                I figured they could add in a something like a “phantom flower” that spawns after you summon her and if you equip it she huddles up too you and cant attack for as long as you have it equipped. if she is fighting something she stops trying to fight mobs and runs to huddle up to you. This flower or whatever item it is could drain sanity while you have it equipped for however much they choose (I mean id think id start to lose it if a ghost was huddling right next to me). If that’s not enough of a drawback they could make it to where Abigail or Wendy or both if they want take more damage then the flower is equipped. Maybe if they wanted you could drop it and she stays with the flower but won’t attack any mobs that come near the flower or Wendy. The reason I say “phantom flower” is that it should disappear when Abigail dies. There should still be the challenge of having to go get “Abigail’s flower” if she dies. If someone is fine the way Abigail controls they could be a option to consume it and the flower would be gone and free space in your inventory but won’t be able to control her like you would with it (then she acts the way she does now).Id actually be just fine with a way to make her wait somewhere.

 

 Please let me know what you guys think. I realize it’s kind of hard to add something like this in without making it too easy. If you see any problems with is idea or a better idea please share it.

I can see your point, but it seems the majority of the challenge is planning ahead when using Abigail and to use combat strategies with Wendy that don't always involve her sister--at least, that's how I have always played.

I feel there is something wrong when i can do better with out Abigail to point that i don't even spawn her anymore. combat? most of the problems occur because I'm trying to avoid combat or am in a position were its to dangerous for me to fight i.e. low heath or not being equipped for said fight, Then Abigail  starts a fight. By planning ahead do you mean thinking "great Abigail going to die when i head to (___) have to be prepared for her to start a fight and run and grab her flower when she dies". Because that the majority of the planing i do with her. The strategies not involving her have been more successful that why I've stop using Abigail. Ive been able to explore more with out having to deal with her. Wendy's "perk" (if you wanna call it that) reduced sanity drain has been enough for me to still use her..

Oh, I think I get what you're saying. Like, have her not be automatically aggressive to every mob you come across.In which case, I agree that the system could use some touch ups.

Yea that too but tactics like using and ice and dynamite combo cant be used when she around her. she just always in this awkward state of some times shes useful, but alot of times i need her to not be any where near or involved in this fight/ place.

Abigail is fine if you play your cards right, really. For what you wish, really Pigs is as good as it gets. If you don't plan ahead, this game punishes you. Period.

never said i don't plan ahead, the planing ahead i have to do with her is tedious and annoying making sure she doesn't agro or hit beffolo in heat, not hitting or getting to close to treguards or tail birds. like i said with Parrotoss just haveing her wait some where or not be as aggressive would be fine.

Abigail is death-centric. Heck, Wendy's personality is death-centric. You should only summon Abigail when you absolutely know you're about to get into a scrap. Like, say, attacking beefalo, or anything that fights back. Or during the first trip or two into caves.
