Parrotoss Posted February 23, 2014 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Every-time I see a bird land by my camp fire I'm consumed by an instinctual rage to throw a rock at it. This is what lead me to propose the idea of a slingshot.It could be crafted with some twigs and a pig skin.In order to make it more unique compared to the boomerang and darts, there could be a charge/drawback ability that would gauge the amount of damage done depending on how long the sling was pulled back.The ammo would be strictly rocks, which would break when thrown. In addition, I'd like to propose throwing knives as well. The crafting requirements could be twigs/reeds, teeth, and flint. I realize it may appear a bit cliched and unnecessary considering there are already darts, but I would enjoy an alternative projectile to use teeth for when snowbirds are unavailable.Each knife would be one use and would work much like a blow dart, only slower and more powerful. I'd like to apologize in advance if this was previously suggested and shot down, but I only saw a suggestion for bows.If you disagree, I'd like to know why. Thanks for reading! Like stabbing--maybe not so much, you could twirl the spine around like a fork in spaghetti.)Yeah. I figured that "just" knives would be a bit plain. They could be called "Stabby Throwing Shivs" or something.Tomahawks would also be cool, maybe as a different type of ax. I think a ranged weapon in this game might be a little overpowered and not quite in tune with the "inconvenient" nature of the game. then again, the boomerang fits this perfectly. I would think a traditional sling might be more appropriate (where do we get elastic anyway?) Maybe it's made with 2 silk, a pigskin, uses a flint each time thrown and can be used X number of times. To make this not too OP, it would take some time to fire. The player would have to start swinging it for 2-3 seconds before releasing the stone. It shouldn't do more than 27.5 damage or if it does more there would be a chance to miss. Doomfan64 Posted March 4, 2014 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I would find it interesting if Slingshots were made as basic weapons, and then the Boomerang got buffed but needed more resources. Same thing with the knife and with the Spear.As for Battal's Clockwork Slingshot suggestion, that could be a tier above the Boomerang but below the Blowdarts.
