CashFreeman
New to the forum, but I searched and didn't find a discussion about this. What 4 items do you take with you on the PS4 version of Adventure Mode? I'm nearing the end of my first chapter "The Game is Afoot", and built a fairly nice base, but I don't know what to take with. I know the Walking Cane is a must, but other than that I'm kind of at a loss. I'm leaning towards beard hair, since that takes so long to grow and can save an accident from happening when I build a Meat Effigy. What else should I be thinking? I've heard about pre building items for the next world, but can you do that on PS4? I couldn't find it. There are a lot of better items and only if you are playing another character in adventure mode would even beard hair be an option (since you have to lose your mind to get the altered creatures, kill them and have a 1/5 chance to get the beard hair since caves aren't an option in Adventure Mode.) I've also taken some excerpts from Irontaco, without ruining the "surprise" world later. These tips are extremely useful: Priorities in items (In my opinion):1.-Something that lets you set up quickly. (Gold.)2.-Something that lets you create stuff on the go. (Pig skin, silk, rocks.) (Rocks are less necessary sometimes.)3.-Something that could let you have more time to work without stopping. (a stack of any Food, maybe sticks and grass) (Grass and sticks are very common, that's way less important.)A good combo can lead you to completing that level very quickly, think a lot before you go into the portal! Also, leave some items in your creation tabs ready to be built. Also, Beefaloes and Koalaphant can appear in any level. If you stay in a world to experience wintertime and it lasts long enough to make one, always take the Walking Cane as one of the four items. Its speed and infinite durability 1/2 spear weapon are lifesaving! Gold is a highly recommended item to take. Sometimes even if it's not hard to find, it's guarded by very difficult creatures (as you saw in "The game is Afoot.") In some worlds, you literally must go insane just to pass barriers which have the gold rocks on the other side! Having built (or pre-built, more on that later) crafting machines to make items to regulate sanity once you have met your objective are a lot easier than having to allot additional combat due to low sanity and Nightmares. The remaining stuff depends on what you haven't experienced. I will say there are two worlds (out of the potential six total of which you only visit five of those six) that have either a quick or immediate winter (still, even after TGIA you are finishing,) so some winter gear (such as a Winter Hat or Beefalo hat) is extremely recommended. Heatstones will be available or not an immediate worry if you are facing winter and should be able to craft it. Once you are "offered a deal" by Maxwell is when you can relax (a little) about having Winter sprung on you. Assume that will only possibly happen once you clear four worlds if you are lucky. So walking cane, gold and winter wear are three of four. I'd recommend some rare item as the fourth like Pigskins, gears, spider silk, etc. It depends what you found in the last world and what you can make before you leave (in your specific world's case, gears shouldn't be an issue.) FInally, building but not placing structures are the key to "taking more than four items." Crafting anything using the resources, but cancelling before you actually place the item on the ground (or literally build the item) is how you can "pre-build" items. I can't remember the specific button, but the cancel button should work after you craft the structure, but before you place it. If you can do so, pre-building a Meat Effigy (instead of taking beard hair and leave with a big to full beard if you can for insulation if playing Wilson) is highly recommended. The same goes for pre-building:Alchemy EnginesShadow Manipulators (if you can I know it's the highest crafting engine) Ice Boxes (extremely recommended since you have no idea how long it will take to find and establish a working base in a new Adventure world, and you can always immediately build one, store found food stuff, smash it and rebuild it later when you are ready for a permanent base)Bee BoxesChestsAnd anything that you often use that is a structure and not an inventory item. (Signs are a great way to carry an extra board without carrying boards--just place and smash with a hammer to get it back!) I hope this clears up some decisions for you, and if the worst happens, you get to try again! AceofSpades88
You can prebuild on the PS4 Console Edition, however there is no visual slot for prebuilt items so you wont see what you have currently prebuilt. It might be the same on the PC, excepting mods, but I'm not sure. Like Truthseeker said above, building anything but cancelling the action (O button) without actually placing the structure will store it for later without taking up any inventory slot. An easy way to tell you have prebuilt said structure is to watch your resources. When you craft the item/sctructure it should consume the resources, even if you cancel placing it on the ground. A tip I would like to add is that because it consumes the resources, you can then gather more of thoses resources before placing what you had built. For example, when travelling I usually pre-build a fire. This consumes the resources without placing the fire, therefore as I continue travelling for the day I can re-gather the resources used by that fire already. It is also comforting knowing if darkness catches me off guard my fire is ready to go. Come morning just pre-build your next fire and you're off. As far as advice on Adventure Mode, sorry I have none. Haven't attempted that...yet. DrPoppycock
After the first chapter (which was King of Winter for me), I took a stack of gold, a stack of beef jerky, a walking cane and a Tam o' Shanter. One thing to remember is that anything you create (e.g. a Science Machine, a crock pot, etc.) but don't place on the ground will go with you to the next level. So build everything you can before you go and you will be able to to build a nice camp in seconds. Hope that helps! Parrotoss
Did not let me bring four thingsDoh, I made the same silly mistake before. The wooden platform on the machine acts as a chest that you need to physically place your items in. WhollyGhost
Eh, I believe it's my ignorance that's the error. I have only attempted the first chapter, from what I've learned here the past few days I can't bring items from sandbox but only chapter to chapter...I'm gonna go ahead and state the obvious: sandbox is tough till ya figure it out, still has it's risky moments, adventure? Dear mother Mary!!!!...but this is what I've fallen in love with, I love asses creed, great story, inside and out of the animus, but really it's a button pusher, playing a flick, DS demands skill, strategy, a know how that I haven't seen since sega, maybe ps1 but even then we had our last save to fall back on, here, a touch stone if you find em, meat effs, and others, but they aren't given....this game has become my new addiction, and I don't have to find it across town and drive the speed limit on the way home....
