Nathan can planewalk to an extent, so teleportation isn't very new to that. And Newleaf is trying to take in all the stuff thrown at him, and he already knew the purple gem thing. He's lived on the islands all his life, and hosts a god of nature and earth. Which would include gems. Besides, they're both more concerned for Cory than a teleporting ability at the moment.)
