I dont know if its been tought of, or even being worked on by some modders but i'd really like to see the special setpieces from adventure mode in the survival map, and have new setpieces, also have new dangerous areas that would need better equipment as a better incentive to go to the caves/ruins.

Also, i know people talked about new biomes a long time ago, but will it ever be possible someday or are some people also working on that?

Also, by creating those new setpieces it may be possible to create a kind of adventure inside the survival map,

we could have special chests with special loot only attainable in those setpieces and new bosses and stuff.

I really hope people are/will work on that!

XD

I think there was a thread asking about spawning setpieces before, so mods should be able to do that. Default+ does have boons from the Adventure maps, and if I recall right _Q_'s "Map Settings" mod does add those into regular survival.

I do support the idea for new setpieces. :-) Especially if there were more valuable setpieces in the caves (aside from existing ones), maybe like the Ice/Fire Staff and Icebox traps?

Regarding new biomes, have you seen Up and Away? I think that's the closest the modders have come to adding a new biome. Not sure if it's possible to modify the default survival map's biomes.

Mods can add new biomes, set pieces and modify vanilla biomes.

The snail king mod planned to add a new set piece to caves, but that mod's been dormant for a while (I wouldn't call it dead, though).

I wonder how to prevent default setpieces from spawning and allow only custom to spawn randomly?

Since most set pieces are specified at the room level (and there isn't an "AddRoomPreInitAny" function), you'd probably need to pass an AddRoomPreInit to each room used in vanilla...

But that wouldn't completely block all vanilla set pieces, since apparently there are other ways they creep into worldgen (we were having some appear in U&A just by using vanilla ground types, and even after changing that some are still around).

thanks for the replies, i've heard of up and aways once or twice but i had never looked it up...i will right away XD

and thats nice to know that adding biome/setpiece is possible.

edit: soooo, i looked it up, and if i understand correctly, it's a massive new instance with new monsters/biome etc a la caves?
