Behemoth270
Not sure if this has been suggested before but I would like to re suggest it. I think it would be a great new way to scavenge for food and give our food menu more diversity. Of course we would need some new hostile creatures give it some risk. More in-depth: For a certain amount of game ticks, the tide will be high and the beach will be inaccessible and the coast would look like it does now. Then there would be a low tide for the remaining ticks in the day, exposing the muddy beach. There are 14 ticks in the day, if the tide changed every six ticks the tide would come in and out at different times throughout the upcoming days so you can't depend on it at the same time every day. When the tide is low there could be new food sources that you have to flip rocks or dig up for a chance at a meal (eg. Lobster, clam, oyster, etc.) or maybe a hostile creature (eg. Blood worm). Of course that's not enough risk, there could be salt water crocodiles roaming around and maybe some sort of tentacle like in the swamps. Don't forget to get off the beach before the tide comes in or you could get swept out to sea and possibly eaten by a shark ( your character would warn you). There are a lot of different possibilities and it would be nice if others shared their ideas. I'd appreciate info of whether this has been suggested before and acknowledged by the developers and if they gave any info as to if something like this is possible or likely. Thanks for reading and please kindly discuss. Thank you. Battal
Hate to break it to you, but this is impossible without changing the entire game. Don't Starve is set in a faux 3D world, meaning you can't go up and down, so descending onto a beach just isn't gonna happen. I have to say I wasn't too happy with them either. llikazuchill
Well it was a nice try. I would've liked this one to be added but as Lord_Battal said, "Don't Starve is set in a faux 3D world, meaning you can't go up and down", the issue was already been decided and the game will never have elevations on the surface.
