[Concept] Whitlock

Hey guys. Just to make it clear, I've absolutely no clue how to do LUA coding, so I decided I'd draft the idea before I made any awkward attempts at learning the language, and make sure it was balanced and as such before I begin. So, may I present my character concept for Whitlock.

Name - Whitlock

Title - The Warlock

Melee Damage - x 0.66

Perks

• Knowledgeable about magic (has one tier of magic research naturally)

• Has a magic staff

• Doesn’t exercise (moves slightly slower, hits lighter and has lower health)

Starts with Thaumaturge’s Rod - Fires magic projectiles at the cost of sanity. Each projectile deals 20 damage and costs 10 sanity to use. Does not lose durability. Able to be upgraded with gems in order to add new effects to the rod. One gem’s effects will override another gem’s effects. It can’t damage hallucinations.

 

Appearance - White hair, wearing flowing light blue robes. Clean shaven. Middle aged.

 

Voice Instrument - Violin.

Axe - Can’t someone do it for me?

Luxury Axe - Gold is harder than stone? There must be magic at work.

Pickaxe - Sticks and stones break your bones.

Opulent Pickaxe - Have to use gold to get gold.

Razor - Sharp objects near my face? No thank you.

Razor (Can’t shave) - No, you can’t make me.

Razor (Nothing left) - How does one cut something that is not there?

Razor (Awake Beefalo) - I don’t think he’d appreciate that when he’s awake.

Hammer - The whole world looks like a nail.

Pitchfork - I will set the stage for the show!

 

Lights

Campfire and Firepit (upon build) - I banish the shadows!

Campfire and Fire Pit (High) - This fire is too warm.

Campfire and Fire Pit (Normal) - This fire is just right!

Campfire and Fire Pit (Low) - This fire is too cold.

Campfire and Fire Pit (Embers) - This fire is non-existent.

Campfire (off) - Not good.

Fire Pit (off) - It just needs a spark of inspiration.

Torch - It is not a wand, but it will do.

Torch (run out) - Whelp!

Miner Hat - But I don’t like mining.

Miner Hat (run out) - Whelp!

Pumpkin Lantern - I can feel the veil fading already.

Lantern - Perfect for the dark descent.

 

Survival

Backpack - For all those bits and pieces.

Piggyback - Wearing people, even pig people, is kind of sick.

Bird Trap - How else do you think they get those doves?

Bug Net - It’s a net. That catches bugs. Funny that.

Fishing Rod - Let's get some omega three!

Straw Roll - This is the last straw.

Fur Roll - So soft, so very soft.

Tent - I never did like camping.

Trap - It’s a trap.

Honey Poultice - Latent healing energy contained in delicious ooze.

Healing Salve - Concentrated spider extract, ideal for healing or summoning.

Heat Stone - Not magical, but still wondrous.

Heat Stone (cold) - Not very hot for a heat stone.

Heat Stone (warm) - It’s getting there.

Heat Stone (hot) - Perfect for banishing the winter cold.

Umbrella - My eyes won’t turn red.

Compass - I wonder if north is the way out of this place.

 

Food

Crock Pot - One can’t conjure on an empty stomach.

Crock Pot (cooking, long time left) - Any day now.

Crock Pot (cooking, short time left) - Almost ready!

Crock Pot (finished cooking) - Let me at it!

Basic Farm and Improved Farm - Lacking in plants.

Basic Farm and Improved Farm (growing) - Surely these can grow faster.

Basic Farm and Improved Farm (needs fertiliser) - Better put nutrients back in the soil.

Ice Box - Chilling.

Drying Rack - I was always told I had a dry sense of humour.

Drying Rack (drying) - Perishables in the works.

Drying Rack (finished) - Nice and chewy.

 

Science

Science Machine - Science is but another form of magic.

Alchemy Engine - Science is but another form of magic.

Winterometer - I’d rather have a calendar.

Rainometer - Latent atmospheric moisture provides divination of coming rain.

Lightning Rod - If only it could be a staff.

Lightning Rod (charged) - Shocking.

Gunpowder - Bah, firearms. What about some conjuring?

 

Fight

Spear - Stone does not make for a good focus crystal.

Hambat - It comes with its own handle.

Boomerang - I always did like those natives.

Boomerang (self hit) - Come on, I've done this before!

Blow Dart - It makes a sharp note.

Sleep Dart - Dreams in a tube.

Fire Dart - Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Football Helmet - One item of clothing I’ve never worn much.

Grass Armour - I’m itching already.

Logsuit - Since when has anyone used wood as armour?

Marble Armour - How on earth am I supposed to wear this?

Bee Mine - Whoever walks on it will get the point.

Tooth Trap - Some bark, plenty of bite.

Shelmet - Strange how it fits my head perfectly.

Snurtle Shell Armour - I’ve always wanted my own shell to call home.

 

Structures

Bee Box - I’m thinking about that honey already.

Bee Box (no honey) - That’s disappointing.

Bee Box (some honey) - Patience, Whitlock. Patience.

Bee Box (full honey) - I must have it!

Bird Cage - It reminds me of my doves.

Bird Cage (occupied) - It’s a shame I have no crackers.

Bird Cage (occupied, asleep) - I wonder what it’s dreaming of.

Pig House - How do they fit in these?

Pig House (occupied, lights off) - Stop hogging the light!

Pig House (occupied, lights on) - How do they know about electricity?

 

Your thoughts? Criticism? Ideas? I'm also thinking of writing a bit more backstory for him, and how he ended up in the Don't Starve world.
