Joseph also helps carry the rock, and Pops leads them back to the waterfall.
"We're going to throw this thing at the waterfall. Ready? One... Two... Three... Go!"

The boulder is sent towards the waterfall, and Pops hopes it will succeed where his telekinesis has failed.

"Right. Well, I guess we don't have very many other options..."

Pops pours half of the remaining green liquid from the canteen in the dirt by the waterfall. The matter slowly begins to change, and soon there is a ladder leading down to the bridge.

Even after years of working with them, Shadowfall was still impressed by the speed at which shades could work.  The spire rose, nearly completed, high into the sky.  It was a masterpiece. Four iron spikes protruded from the obelisk every couple meters, and the entire structure was covered in softly glowing runes.  The shades brought the last piece, the topping stone, an ebony skull covered with more runes.  The shades climbed the spire, carrying the heavy object with ease.  With precision, they lowered the skull onto the obelisk's top.  It fit perfectly, and with a sound like a massive bell, the runes erupted with a harsh red light.

The Obelisk is a power container for Shadowfall, sorta like a giant battery.  Once his prisoners are in place, he will begin to channel energy into it.  When it is fully charged, he will drain the power from it all at once, allowing him to go Destroyer-of-everything mode.  Much like the new Kindle Fire 666 (Only available at Maulmart and related stores), it has a very short charge time.  The group have about 7 days to defeat Shadowfall.

(What if I told you that nope.)

Ahh, here they were.  The prisoners, the poor souls who would feed his power.  They were in circular metal cages, each one specially crafted for them.  The irritating scientist...a poor farmer...an incessant cart driver...and many more.  The shades placed them down before the Spire, the prisoners facing Shadowfall.  They probably expected him to speak.  But speech comes in many forms.  Shadowfall simply raised his arms, and shadows poured out from beneath him.  They formed tendrils, each of which wrapped themselves around the cages.  The prisoners cried out in horror and fear, but the demon lord had no compassion for them.  He raised the cages into the air, hanging them on the spikes protruding from the obelisk.

The shadow tendrils returned to Shadowfall.  Now, the show would begin.  He lowered his arms, and spoke.

"Eu, Spira obscura!  Pascite qui stare a vinctoque tibiThesaurizate virtute sua in te!"

The Spire began to hum.  The prisoners began to scream in agony as their skin rotted away before their eyes.  But Shadowfall had designed the Spire this way - it would heal them while draining them.  An almost never ending source of power.  The Spire began to faintly glow, and the sky above turned black and filled with lightning...
